Steven Gerrard: “No way” he will quit

England

By Football Talk.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has declared he has no intention of quitting international football despite leading England through a hugely disappointing World Cup campaign. Gerrard won’t follow in the footsteps of Paul Scholes and club-mate Jamie Carragher in retiring from England duty, and insists he wants to erase the memories of the humiliating 4-1 defeat to arch rivals Germany.

“There is no way I want the disappointment of the Germany game to be my last for England,” said Gerrard.

“It was such a low and I am determined to do as much as I can to make amends for what happened.

“I expect there to be a lot of changes to the squad and it is up to the manager whether I am selected, but I am going to continue to make myself available for my country.”

Liverpool fans will be hoping Gerrard has a similar desire to stay at Liverpool and make up for a disappointing premier league campaign last season. Reports continue to fill the papers linking Gerrard with a move to Real Madrid and the player has remained tight-lipped about his future despite the club installing a new manager last week.
