As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are ready to move for Felipe Anderson….

Manchester United are ready to steal a march on Chelsea by tabling a formal €41m bid for Lazio’s attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson, according to reports.

The Brazilian Under-21 international has just come off the back of an excellent campaign in Italy with his 11 goals and 10 assists in 37 appearances helping Lazio secure a third-placed finish in the Serie A table and with it, a place in next seasons Champions League.

Anderson’s impressive performance’s have attracted interest form the Premier League with Manchester strongly linked with a move for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder in recent months, while reports over the weekend claimed that Chelsea were also keen on signing the South American.

It seems the Blues declaring their interest has sparked United into action as the Daily Star are reporting today that the Red Devils are now ready to test Lazio’s resolve with a €41m (£30m) bid for Anderson’s services.

The newspaper claims that United scouts have been watching him for a while and have given van Gaal glowing reports, so the Dutchman is ready to formalise his interest with a concrete offer over the coming weeks.

Anderson only recently signed a new five-year deal but it remains to be seen whether Lazio will consider cashing-in if the offer is right. If they do decide to sell, Chelsea could also step-up their interest to create a bidding-war situation.

However, United could yet have the trump card up their sleeve as the Daily Star suggest that Lazio are keen on striker Robin van Persie, so a potential player-plus-cash swap deal could be on the cards.

Including RvP in any deal could certainly sway things in United’s favour and the Dutch strikers future at Old Trafford is in serious doubt as he’s no longer a guaranteed starter and is contemplating moving away in search of regular action.

Anderson has predominantly been played as a left-sided attacker at Lazio but he’s also capable of playing anywhere across the front three positions, so he’s give van Gaal or Mourinho plenty of options in attack if he was to make the move to England.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but Anderson would be an exciting addition to either club if they are able to pull off a deal this summer.
