[Video Highlights] West Brom 1-0 Man Utd: Mata Off As Rondon Sinks Utd

By on March 6, 2016

Juan Mata was sent off midway through the first half as West Bromwich Albion beat Manchester United 1-0 at the Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon.

Having already picked up an early booking, Mata was sent off by referee Mike Dean for a second yellow card after tripping former United midfielder Darren Fletcher in the 25th minute leaving the visitors to play with 10-men for well over an hour.

West Brom struggled to use their man advantage effectively going forward while Rashford and Lingard created the best chances for United before the deadlock was eventually broken midway through the second half.

Baggies striker Salomon Rondon showed an exquisite touch to control a Sebastien Pocognoli cross in the 66th minute before firing home past David De Gea for 1-0.

United couldn’t find a way back in to the game so they remain in sixth place in the Premier League table and three points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City with Manuel Pellegrini’s men also holding a game in hand.
