[Video Goals] Chelsea 1-2 PSG [2-4 Agg]: Costa Goal Not Enough As Blues Crash

By on March 9, 2016

Chelsea crashed out of the Champions League after losing 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night with the Ligue 1 side progressing 4-2 on aggregate.

The Blues went in to the game knowing only victory would do after losing the first leg 2-1 in France last month but they left themselves with a mountain to climb after PSG broke the deadlock at the Bridge.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic found space down the right and his low cross was turned home at the far post by Adrien Rabiot in the 16th minute to make it 0-1 on the night and 1-3 on aggregate.

Chelsea gave themselves hope when Diego Costa did well to turn Thiago Silva in the area before slotting home a left-footed shot for 1-1 meaning the hosts needed one more goal to force extra time.

However, those hopes were dashed when Angel Di Maria found Ibrahimovic with a pin-point cross and the Swedish hitman made no mistake to put PSG back in control.

There was no way back for Chelsea so PSG progress to the last 8 with a 4-2 aggregate victory.
