Arsenal Hoping To Secure Striker Signing Within ‘Hours’

By on July 26, 2016

The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Wissam Ben Yedder….

Arsenal are hoping to have won the race to sign Wissam Ben Yedder with the highly-rated Toulouse striker expected to decide his future within the next 24 hours, according to the Daily Star.

Arsene Wenger is in the market for a striker to offer support to Olivier Giroud this coming season but has so far been frustrated in his attempts to sign a number of high profile targets.

The latest failed move saw Lyon knock back an offer for Alexandre Lacazette with the Ligue 1 outfit claiming on Tuesday morning that they’ve rejected a £29m bid from Arsenal for the French international.

It seems Wenger has now turned his attention to a lesser-known Ligue 1 striker as the Daily Star are citing reports coming from French TV station Canal+ that claim Arsenal and Sevilla are battling it out over the signing of Wissam Ben Yedder.

The newspaper quotes Canal+ journalist Ludo Deroin as saying that the striker is expected to make his decision over whether to join Arsenal or Sevilla within the coming hours.

“Wissam Ben Yedder should sign [for] Arsenal or Sevilla in the next hours. Source close to folder.”

I’m not sure what to make of this news as it’s come from nowhere but I suppose it would be a typical ‘Wenger-like’ signing and Ben Yedder probably has a better pedigree than many fans think.

The 25-year-old has been one of the most prolific strikers in France over the past four years with only Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexandre Lacazette scoring more goals than Ben Yedder’s 62 Ligue 1 goals during that time.

The French hitman bagged 23 in all competitions for a poor Toulouse side last season so he certainly knows where the goal is and it appears that form has caught the attention of Wenger, if these reports are accurate.

Ben Yedder clearly isn’t the striker we’ve been hoping for but with the transfer fee reportedly set at around £8m [source: Sun], I can see why Wenger is tempted to take a punt on him with the money being touted for the likes of Higuain and Lacazette.

We are going to secure a striker “in hours”. How many hours? 100,400,1000. We only haven a month left.?ll

  2. Wenger is not a serious coach. He should be giving another role at Emirate stadium. He had lost focus on the current trend of events in football, probably due to old age.Let him take another role.

am tired of this nonsense arsene wenger is doing to our club, by the time mourinhno start abusing pls no body should complain because arsene wenger is the problem of his own failure, noe he want to gamble again, bring in players that are second class while mourhino is signing firt class player.

To me I will be grateful if he will sign mahres and this guy Ben Yedder because d guy look more dangerous than O’G at least with his with his kind of poor club he still manage to be third in goal scoring…in French Ligue 1 side

People complaining about this possible signing are the same people who would have complained if Arsenal had signed Mahrez a year ago.

pls tell Wenger and gazidis to sign anyone, just anyone! one can sense the level of frustration I’m going through, these people who price players as if they were ground nuts and pepper are getting me crazy. these people have no regards for the feelings of arsenal fans, they have no ambition to win the premiership or the uefa champions league. top four placing is enough for them. they prefer to sit on the club’s cash and massage their ego watching it grow. clubs with ambition go for world class players and pay commensurate prices to acquire them. just see how players after players are snubbing our dear club, arsenal. it is a shame on Wenger and gazidis.

Mr Wenger say that it a matter of hour will take to sign a striker,it is a lie because his hour can be days or week even next month.it is a shame that Wenger think he can used his French connection to get or think that transfer market is like before, where he spent 4 to 7 m pound. He should resign immediately we are tire of him .

Ben Wisser is not well known but neither was Koscielny when Arsenal signed him. I’m not familair with him, but who knows, he might be something special. The main issue here is that fans want a replacement for Giroud and Wenger wants support for him. And the fans know that Wenger does what Wengerwants; he isn’t influenced by their feelings.

Unlike Man U, who fired van Gall because people booed him, Arsenal’s owners and board know that without Wenger they’d have been midtable for the last decade and they’re not going to fire him.

At the beginning of the window Arsene We ger said he planned to bring in three players to the first team. Xhaka is one. A first team central defender would be logical, especially with Mertesacker out and Gabriel having periodic minor fitness issues. You never know though. Perhaps Holding and Chambers will get chances to show their mettle on the preseason tour and if hey look good, one or both of them will get to fill the 3rd and 4th CB role.

A striker is something Arsenal want but the prices are ridiculous. The same people demanding Lacazette, Higuain, Lukaku, etc. now will be panning them in six months if they don’t score 20 goals by Christmas; which none of them would.

Arsenal striker Giroud scored twice in his team’s easy win as he warmed up nicely for the start of Euro 2016 With Karim Benzema absent, Giroud is hitting form at the right time as he becomes France’s main striker
