Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are confident of beating Liverpool to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang….

Chelsea are confident of beating Liverpool to the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the Blues close-in on a £65m deal for the Borussia Dortmund hitman, according to the Mirror.

Antonio Conte is desperately searching for a top class striker after telling Diego Costa he’s no longer in his plans for this coming season with the Brazilian-born star expected to seal a return to Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea have seemingly turned their attention to Aubameyang after missing out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United while they’ve struggled to agree a deal with Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata.

Aubameyang is set to leave Dortmund this summer and the 28-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks after snubbing a big-money move to China.

talkSPORT reported late last week that Chelsea and Liverpool were going head-to-head to sign Aubameyang with both clubs understood to be keen to lure the Gabon international to England.

Jurgen Klopp knows the striker well after being the man to take him to Dortmund in 2013 and it looks like the Liverpool coach is hoping for a reunion at Anfield as he looks to build a side capable of competing for the title.

However, the Mirror claim Chelsea are now confident of beating Liverpool to Aubameyang’s signature as the Premier League champions are believed to be closing-in on a £65m deal.

If true, the news will be a blow to Liverpool but I think Aubameyang will prove to be a superb signing for the Blues if they do manage to get a deal wrapped-up this summer.
