Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Renato Sanches….

Manchester United are closing-in on a shock deal to sign Renato Sanches on a season-long loan from German giants Bayern Munich this summer, according to a report in the Express.

Sanches came through the youth academy at Benfica and emerged as one of the hottest young talents in Europe after breaking in to the first team squad in 2015.

United were strongly linked with a move for the teenager before he opted to join Bayern last summer but his time at the Allianz Arena hasn’t gone smoothly so far.

The Portuguese international has struggled to hold down a regular first team place under Carlo Ancelotti and managed to make just 6 Bundesliga starts throughout the whole of last season.

This has led to speculation the midfielder will look for a move this summer in search of regular first team football ahead of the 2018 World Cup and it seems he could be heading to England.

The Express are citing a report from The Sun that claims Man Utd are on the verge of agreeing a deal with Bayern that will see them sign Sanches on a season-long loan.

The newspaper says Mourinho is confident he can get the best out of his compatriot having turned his attention to the 19-year-old after missing out on a number of other midfield targets.

Mourinho has grown frustrated with United’s lack of movement in the transfer market as they’ve only brought-in centre-back Victor Lindelof and striker Romelu Lukaku so far and the Portuguese coach is desperate to add further reinforcements.

A central midfielder to act as a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick – who turns 36 next week – is required and United have been strongly linked with moves for Nemanja Matic and Eric Dier in recent weeks.

However, with little progress being made with those deals, it looks as though United have now turned their attention to landing Sanches and I think the youngster would be an excellent addition to the squad if they do end up taking him to Old Trafford.
