Jurgen Klopp has offered an update on Mohamed Salah after the attacker limped off during Liverpool’s stunning 3-0 Champions League victory over Manchester City last night.

Salah continued his sensational season by opening the scoring against City at Anfield with a close range finish before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain rifled home a superb strike for 2-0.

Liverpool’s Egyptian international then set-up Sadio Mane to head home a third goal as the Reds put one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League with an impressive victory over the Premier League champions-elect.

However, the win came at a cost for Liverpool as Salah limped off shortly after half time after picking up a groin injury during the opening stages of the second period.

Klopp has revealed that Salah told him in the dressing room after the game that he was ‘fine’ but the Reds boss feels they need to wait for a full assessment to be carried out by the clubs medical team.

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com:

“I don’t know in the moment. He came to the sideline and said he feels sometimes something; for me, that was enough for me to not even ask the Doc how he was, we immediately took him off the pitch.

“After the game I asked him and he said, ‘I will be good, it will be fine’. But now we have to wait for the real diagnosis, not Mo’s self-diagnosis.

“We will see, I don’t know at the moment.”

Liverpool will be praying for positive news as it would be a devastating blow for the Merseysiders if they were to lose Salah at this stage of the season.

The 25-year-old has been in sensational form since joining the club from Roma last summer with last night’s strike his 38th goal in just 42 appearances.

Salah is now a major doubt for Saturday’s Merseyside derby against Everton and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be fit for the second leg against City at the Etihad next week.
