Man Utd Line-Up Moves For £100m Duo If Mourinho Can’t Land ‘Dream’ Target Toni Kroos

By on April 19, 2018

The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with three midfielders…

Manchester United have lined-up Fred and Jorginho as alternatives in-case they can’t sign Jose Mourinho’s dream target Toni Kroos this summer, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Mourinho is in the market for at least two central midfielders this summer as Michael Carrick is set to retire while Marouane Fellaini is expected to leave on a free transfer when his deal runs out in June.

Speculation also persists over Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford with widespread reports suggesting Mourinho is ready to cash-in despite praising the Frenchman’s performance against Bournemouth last night.

TeamTalk say United are already lining-up potential replacements for Pogba and cite a report from the Independent that claims Real Madrid star Kroos is Mourinho’s ‘dream’ target.

The German international has consistently been one of the best central midfield players in recent years having led Madrid to three Champions League’s in four years while they are also through to the semi-finals this year.

As Kroos is such an integral part of Zinedine Zidane’s starting eleven, you’d expect Madrid will do all they can to keep hold of him so TeamTalk say Mourinho has lined-up two back-up targets in-case they can’t get a deal done for the German schemer.

The report says Napoli midfielder Jorginho has emerged as a prime target for United and the Red Devils are ready to go head-to-head with Liverpool over a £50m deal to sign the Italian international.

Fred has also been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford recently and TeamTalk cite a report from the Mirror that claims United are also pushing forward with a £50m swoop for the Shakhtar Donetsk star.

The Brazilian international has been in excellent form for the Ukrainian champions since joining the club in 2013 and the 25-year-old is probably the most easily attainable of the three midfield targets.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but I expect United to sign two midfielders if Pogba does follow Carrick and Fellaini out the door so we could see both Jorginho and Fred join the club. Kroos would obviously be an excellent signing but I just don’t see Madrid selling this summer.

Either of these two players would be a better option but only because of the age difference and the awkwardness of dealing with Madrid.

Well if United are replacing Carrick, Fellaini and Pogba wouldn’t they need all three?
