Jurgen Klopp has provided a team news and injury update ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final second leg with AS Roma.

The Merseysiders flew-out to Rome this afternoon ahead of their clash at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night looking to finish the job after winning the first leg 5-2 at Anfield last week.

Jurgen Klopp was pleased to confirm a triple injury boost with Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alberto Moreno expected to be fit to face Roma tomorrow night.

Henderson needed treatment during Liverpool’s draw with Stoke at the weekend after twisting his ankle while Alexander-Arnold was substituted midway through the second half after suffering a dead leg.

Moreno also picked up a knock but Klopp says the trio are expected to train normally tonight and should therefore be in contention to start against the Italian giants on Wednesday.

However, there wasn’t such positive news on Joe Gomez as the defender hasn’t travelled to Rome after suffering an ankle injury during the early stages of the game against Stoke.

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com:

“Apart from the long-term injuries, only Joe is not here. He had a little bit of a setback in the early stages of the last game. He came through somehow, to be honest, but after the game the injury was still there so we’ve left him at home.

“It’s only a little setback for Joe, but we have to see how long he will be out for. I don’t know at the moment.

“Apart from that, I think we are pretty complete. We have 20 players plus three goalkeepers, but a lot of kids are involved and Adam Lallana is here, too.

“[Henderson and Alexander-Arnold] have had a two-day recovery and today will train normally. Alberto got a little bit of a knock. We will see, but it looks like he can train tonight. The rest should be available.”

Sadio Mane is also expected to return to the starting eleven after not being risked at the weekend but Joel Matip, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Emre Can remain on the sidelines.

Adam Lallana was a surprise name to make the 23-man squad that flew out of John Lennon Airport this afternoon as the midfielder is still working is way back to full fitness from a hamstring injury.

The England international hasn’t played since picking up the injury against Crystal Palace a month ago and Klopp has now ruled him out of contention to face Roma with Lallana only going to Italy to train with the first team.

told Liverpoolfc.com:

“Adam Lallana is here in the training squad, but not available for the game. He’s in the training squad and that’s very nice.

“It shows how close he is. Unfortunately, the season is not too long anymore, but we’re really happy about having him with us.”

So the Liverpool squad is in reasonable shape going in to the decisive second leg against Roma but it will take a huge turnaround for Klopp’s men to blow their 5-2 lead and not progress to the final.
