Super-agent Mino Raiola has held talks with Manchester United about signing Liverpool and Chelsea target Mauro Icardi this summer, according to a report by TeamTalk.
Icardi has developed in to one of the best strikers in Europe since joining Inter Milan from Sampdoria in 2013 and he’s enjoying a fine campaign having scored 27 goals in his 31 league appearances so far.
However, the Argentinean international’s future at the San Siro has been cast in doubt as talks over a new deal have failed to progress with Inter struggling to meet his wage demands.
TeamTalk claim that Icardi is demanding a new contract worth around £150,000-a-week but the Nerazzurri are unable to stretch that far as they need to balance the books to meet Financial Fair Play guidelines.
The situation has alerted clubs in the Premier League as TeamTalk cite reports from Italy as saying that Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea have all expressed their interest in luring Icardi to England this summer.
Jurgen Klopp needs competition for Roberto Firmino if Liverpool are compete on all fronts next season while Chelsea are also being tipped to sign a new striker amid on-going doubts over the future of Alvaro Morata and Icardi is seemingly on their radar.
However, it looks like United are in pole position to sign the South American as TeamTalk are citing a report from Corriere dello Sport that claims the Red Devils are now in preliminary talks about a deal.
The Italian publication says Icardi’s agent, Wanda Nara, has asked super-agent Mino Raiola to act as an intermediary and he’s opened talks with United about a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Raiola has close contacts at United having conducted several deals with them in the past so it seems Icardi is keen to use those relationships to explore a potential switch to Manchester.
Jose Mourinho needs to sign another striker after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and United have the finances to meet Icardi’s £96m [€110m] release clause if they choose to move forward with a deal.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming months but the 25-year-old is a top class forward so I think Icardi would be an excellent signing for whichever club ends up buying him if he leaves Inter this summer.
