Liverpool Chiefs Set To Fly-Out For Talks Over Deal To Sign £26.8m Star

Liverpool chiefs are set to fly-out to Turkey to hold talks with Besiktas over a deal to sign £28.6m-rated centre-back Domagoj Vida this summer

The summer transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Liverpool’s attempts to sign Domagoj Vida…

Liverpool chiefs are set to fly-out to Turkey to hold talks with Besiktas over a deal to sign £28.6m-rated centre-back Domagoj Vida this summer, according to reports via the Daily Star.

Vida only joined Besiktas in January following a five-year spell at Dinamo Kiev but he’s caught the eye of several clubs following his exploits at the World Cup where he played a key role in helping Croatia reach their first ever final before eventually losing out 4-2 to France.

The 29-year-old’s excellent displays in Russia have attracted attention from the Premier League with the Daily Star claiming that West Ham, Everton and Liverpool have all expressed their interest in bringing Vida to England this summer.

However, it looks like Liverpool are ready to steal a march on their rivals as the newspaper is citing a report from Milliyet that claims Anfield officials are due to fly-out to Istanbul to hold formal transfer talks over the next few days.

And it looks like Liverpool could get a deal agreed as the Turkish publication says Besiktas president Fikret Orman is ready to do business at £26.8m having already rejected a lower offer of £20m for Vida’s signature.

West Ham and Everton could yet step-up their interest but the Croatian international would no doubt jump at the chance to join Liverpool if the Merseysiders could get an agreement in place this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has been extremely busy in the market having snapped-up goalkeeper Alisson Becker, midfield duo Naby Keita and Fabinho as well as attacker Xhedran Shaqiri as the Reds boss looks to close the gap on Manchester City.

However, another centre-back also appears to be on the agenda and Vida would compete with compatriot Dejan Lovren for a starting spot alongside Virgil van Dijk if he completes a move to Anfield over the coming weeks.

The defender is currently enjoying a break following his exploits at the World Cup but he may have to cut-short his holiday if Liverpool find a breakthrough in negotiations any time soon.
