Kuszczak Demands a Chance as Hugo Lloris “crushes” United rumours

Kuszczak wants a chance to become Uniteds next number 1

Kuszczak wants a chance to become United’s next number 1. Tomasz Kuszczak has urged Sir Alex Ferguson to give him a chance to stake his claim for the No 1 jersey at Old Trafford.

The Polish stopper has had limited first-team opportunities since his to the Red Devils in 2007 and new signing Anders Lindegaard has played in the last two FA Cup matches leaving Kuszczak watching on from the stands. Kuszczak remains Fergie’s number 2 but is in the awkward position whereby there is an opportunity to stake a claim to be Edwin Van Der Sar’s long term successor but at the same time the manager is looking to see what new signing Lindegaard has to offer.

The former West Brom keeper has made seven appearances this season and is eager to get more games under his belt. Kuszczak is certain that if he gets a run in the side he will not let Ferguson down.

“Play me and I’ll prove I’m your real No.1,” he said on a US TV show.

“To play well I need to play regularly. I’ve shown when I get a run my form gets better.

“Now I’m waiting for my manager’s decision.”

Lloris linked with summer move to Old Trafford

In the meantime, Hugo Lloris has apparently crushed any rumours linking him with replacing Edwin Van Der Sar. The French number 1 was quoted last week as saying it would be a dream move to go to United but has now re-affirmed his commitment to the Ligue 1 club.

Lloris, who is under contract with Lyon until June 2012, has said he is fully focused on Lyon and that starts by trying to negotiate a tough tie aganinst Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.

“I am fully committed to the OL. After these announcements, the rumours, I have no problem with that,” Lloris told L’Equipe.

“It’s flattering, yes. But that does not mean I’m going to stop working and function as I always have.”

When reading what Lloris has actually come out and said it doesn’t seem to me that he has quashed any rumours. It appears all the player has done is confirmed he is still committed to do his best for his current club, as would be expected of any professional player. Watch this space……

What do you think? Who do you want between the sticks for United next season? Is Kuszczak good enough?
