Arsenal & Chelsea Do Battle For £18m Winger

By on April 10, 2011

Arsenal and Chelsea are on alert for young and talented winger, Eden Hazard, for a potential transfer deal in the summer transfer window after Lille revealed they are ready to sell – as long as he is loaned straight back to them for the whole of next season.

The chances of him leaving this summer appeared to narrow in March when he signed a contract extension with French club Lille until 2015. But Lille may be prepared to sell the 20-year-old winger at the end of this season if he is given the green light to spend next season on loan with them.

Lille want the diminutive winger back in their team because he has been instrumental in Lille’s rise to being currently top of the Ligue 1 and want him to help in their Champions League campaign next year.

Lille are demanding €20m (£17.6m) for their prized asset and it seems that the Gunners are willing to pay the asking price although the fear may be that Chelsea’s interest may result in a bidding war that Wenger will not want to get involved in.

    LILLE,
YOU CAN’T EAT YOUR CAKE AND HAVE IT!
EITHER YOU LEG GO OFF THE PLAYER, OR DON’T SELL HIM AT ALL

That is a lot of moneybon q player you can’t have. Loaning such a young player back for his experience and more importantly champions league experience would be very beneficial. But if we buy £18m player and he gets injured with another club? We cannot get in a bidding war with any of top European clubs including man c, Chelsea, and man u. Let’s wait and see who becomes availaible at the end of the year and the players other clubs bid for.

Hazard said: “Real Madrid and Arsenal are the clubs I dreamed of joining as a child.”

Maarten Stekelenburg, “If Arsenal make an offer, I will leave Holland”
