Arsenal Transfer News: Gervinho Medical | Alvarez “Dreams Of Arsenal” | Keeper Linked

By  Published: 30th June 2011

Another day of transfer news, speculation, gossip and rumors passes by, surrounding the Gunners. As usual, there are some interesting pieces of news especially concerning Gervinho, so without further ado, here is the Arsenal Transfer News Roundup.

Gervinho Having A Medical?

Many reports are filtering around that Lille’s Gervinho, is in London having a medical ahead of his proposed and expected move to the Gunners. The fee that is being reported is around 12 million euros and a four year contract. I really hope that it’s finally going to happen…. it’s been an anxious and long wait.

Ricky Alvarez “dreams of playing for Arsenal”

Another interesting piece of news, which was stated by the player himself, through his twitter account: 11rickyalvarez.

Here is what he said, of course it was translated from Spanish:

“I love to play in the Arsenal, would be a dream for me! I wish to God that is realized!”

I really hope that this transfer comes to fruition, from what I’ve seen from him, he looks like a talented player. He’s still an unproven player and will need time to settle, but I think he has the talent and ability to succeed as a Gunner, if he joins.

Arsenal Interested In Viviano

A goalkeeper who has been linked quite frequently to the Gunners. Emiliano Viviano, the talented Italian international, who displaced the legendary Gianluigi Buffon as Italy’s number one keeper, has been linked yet again with the Gunners. The 25 year old who plays with Bologna, was arguably the best goalkeeper in the Serie A, producing consistent and excellent displays. His excellent displays have apparently caught the eye of Wenger, and reports are stating that he’s willing to offer a bid of around 8 million pounds for his services.

I honestly don’t believe Wenger will go after another keeper during this transfer window. Viviano is a talented keeper, but Szczesny did very well last season and he deserves a starting spot next season. If Wenger were to go for a keeper, it’ll probably be someone with plenty of experience and who have reached their peak, like Given or Schwarzer.

What do you think? Are you excited about the latest on Gervinho and Alvarez? Do you want Wenger to go for Viviano?

Please share your thoughts and opinions.

Cheers and take care,

At the moment I’d be happy if we actually signed anyone but the way Wenger is going we’ll loose out on all the players he claims to want at Arsenal. Also we’ll loose Fabregas to Barca & Nasri & Clichy to our rivals which is no way of doing business and we’ll end up replacing them with inferior players who won’t provide any useful contribution to the team & then we’re back to square one.

  3. If we lose Fabregas then I hope to god Wenger has a stellar signing lined up. We need to take the proceeds from that sale and sign a De Rossi, Mascherano, Gago etc. Then build our centre on solidity, pushing Wilshere into the creative role with two solid cm’s behind him.

i’d be happy with alvarez, gervinho and samba. Keep nasri and promote frimpong and coquelin and lansbury. The kids have passion. The fact is we wont buy the massive players, but to be honest, wenger is very good at finding gems. If we knew the player, he wouldn’t be a wenger signing

this is not time of finding young gems, mate!!! its time to splash the cash on samba/cahil,gervinho,falcao,benzema,hazard,and the like. spoonfeeding is over and the denilsons almunias sq MUST PACK THEIR BAGS NOW!!!!! We want quality!!!!!!

Sell Nasri if he wants to leave, he never would have been his kind player if he has not joined Arsenal. Any player leaving Arsenal during the last 5 years did not enjoy that much sucess. We will prove fabregas and nasri that they have made wrong decision…

much as I want wenger sign gervinho, samba/cahil,oxlade, I dont think these deals will actually go through and i remain optimistic, dont want these rumours until i officially hear wenger has signed someone, of which i doubt will happen. Wenger is not serious and is takin us fans “too lightly“ that he doesnt want to listen to our views. Why is this man sooooo arrogant????? his counterpart & superior fergie has already signed 3 good players, what has he done?? If he doesnt sign wat we fans want, and nasri, clichy, fab4 go, we should just boycot watching home games so that they should play in an empty stadium. No one now can accept paying for the annual ticket to watch logs denilson, almunia, squilaci, chamakh, rosicky, wat for?? wenger is into me so much, wat the hell is he waiting for?????

Wenger is all talk and no action out of all his young guns only 1 or 2 stay, time to splash out and unless he gets some good players in and keeps hold of Nasri he shld be sacked now!! He shld sell cesc to barca for cut price but insist on getting a player like pedro or thiago in the deal.

Is wenger building the team OR is he making money?!! u cant loose nasri & fab at the same time, and u think, u building a winning team..Arsernal wont win any trophy if that is wenger’s routine of selling off players. Wenger is take decisions that favour the shareholders NOT other stakeholders (fans)..he shd resign.!!
