Man Utd Fans Attempt To Incite Violence Between Man City & Napoli Fans

By on September 7, 2011

Some Manchester United fans active on the online forums of the fanzine, Red Issue, have disgraced their club by encouraging fellow fans and members of the site to incite violence between Napoli fans and City fans on the Italian club’s ‘ultra’ messageboards by impersonating Manchester City fans.

Under pseudonyms such as ‘mancityhooligan’ and ‘Bluemoon’, they have threatened violence, both in Naples and in Manchester when the two clubs meet in the Champions League, as well as abusing members of the Napoli forum. A particularly vile example of which is where one United fan writes, “I hope that the Napoli fans go to town on them before and after both games.”

By and large, it would appear that the majority of the Napoli fans are savvy to the fact that that it is United fans appearing on their forums and abusing them, however I believe that all possible steps must be taken in order to ensure that no misunderstanding is left to fuel anger within the Napoli ultras. My hope is that, with further exposure and raised awareness, the idiots responsible will be given deserved punishment and that any potential tension between Napoli and City fans in the upcoming Champions League ties will be diffused.

The links at the foot of this article show first a screenshot of the Red Issue fanzine thread in question via a City fan site and an example of the incitement on a popular Napoli message board.

The Red Issue fanzine and the instigators of this abhorrent incitement should be condemned for their disgusting conduct that has no place in any modern society. These fans have taken the footballing rivalry between City and United too far, and in appearing to think that the loss of the lives of City fans would be amusing, shows their behaviour is simply abhorrent and should be exposed for the pure evil that it exhibits.

A few however, have chosen to deflect attention from these fans by saying that this happens all the time and that nothing will come of a few harmless words on the internet. I have a very strong answer to anyone who thinks that this is a trivial matter. The words of the minority can be ignored by the majority as trivial, but when these words are aired in the right place they can cause a chaos that is very real. In other words, whilst this is a minority amongst the United support, it only takes one fool to cause trouble, and where human life is in question, no risks should be taken.

The instigator, whose name has been made very public, particularly on Twitter, and those others who were involved, have been reported to the Greater Manchester Police.

This is the kind of idiocy Manchester City fans deal with on a daily basis now. I wouldn’t have expected anything else from United fans to tell the truth. Despicable.

Yeah thats right its all of us Einstein . Give me strength. Must be great to rest safe in the knowledge that every single Human Being claiming to be a fan of Man City would not be capabale of anything like this. You are an idiot.

“I wouldn’t have expected anything else from United fans to tell the truth. Despicable.” Sounds like the plural to me. Your MENSA application is in the post i take it?

He’s saying plural, but it could mean one, some or all. You are just taking it to mean all because it suits your agenda. Unless you are assuming he thinks that the knobs who posted on Red Tissue are all the United fans in existence, in which case I guess you won’t be applying for MENSA.

I’ve seen the Red site that started this it should be taken down the mindless thugs that are on this are vile and if they don’t already have a banning order one should be put in place also prison for a year or two some poor family of city supporters take a wrong turn and get stabbed over this. These fans are the sort United can do without vile disgusting animals I read the quotes under the comments about an 11 year old are stomach turning Red Issue should be in control of such flith if not site should erased and administration charged with a list of offences as theres seems to no disclaimer !!!! As for the user name says it all really. Police need to act on this now.

Many United fans are already green with envy and stricken with jealousy by City’s new found wealth. They know too well it is only a short matter of time now before City become the dominant force in English & European football… and it hurts. I cannot believe how low some people can get – however saying that, having witnessed the disgusting behaviour of many United fans at the Wembley games this year perhaps it shouldn’t suprise me… bitter and twisted.

The fact is Danny, while not ALL United fans are like this, nor are ALL City fans angels, as every Derby Day approaches, the media remind us for days how sick our Munich chants are- the simple fact is something is clearly upsetting these deranged individuals. Now where RI is concerned they have a history of “hysterical” ways of belittling ickle “Citeh”- but many reds I know say it’s just a joke and try and dumb it down. There is clear intent by these reds to cause mischief. They don’t need apologists. They don’t need making light of, they need highlighting and punishing. Were the boot on the other foot, the papers would be riddled with how disgraceful and bitter City fans are- how many national papers have run this story?
So, Danny, as a red, and making light of some of the suggestions on here, how would you explain the reasons for these reds’ behaviour?

          September 7, 2011 at 10:44 am

What exactly am I making light of mate? Have you seen my response to Brians post? It wasnt sarcasm. The key is to deal with facts rather than the hysterical tar and feathering of every single one of a group of people. Its ridiculous. And as for our ways of having a go at City the fact is pal both sides are at it, both sides have idiots as followers. My point is that it is outrageous to try to use this to label every single Man Utd fan despicable like some of your esteemed brainless collegaues have above.

You associate the word “bitter” with United fans? Lets have it right – Who was singing Munich chants at Ewood Park last season?
How can we be jealous of wealth when we are successful without it?!
I see you have you Blue Crystal Ball out again? Dominant force in European and English Football?! WOW! Not even a mention of us Barcelona, Inter, AC Milan, Chelsea, Bayern Munich etc etc?! Arrogance with just 1 F.A Cup in the bag! Yeah, cos it was JUST United fans at Wembley wasn’t it? And City fans are Whiter that White… Stop embarrasing yourself.

Whats funny are people like you who think Utd. fans envy City’s new wealth. City spent half a billion quid just to catch up with Utd. on the football field. And Utd. have a massive global fanbase and City don’t. If thats not attractive to mega-rich investors then what is? (Its common knowledge that the Qataris were interested). And not saying they won’t be but City aren’t a dominant force yet. Chelsea spent just as much but never won the Champions League.

Im a City fan and to be straight I know a load of United fans while I tend to steer away on match days as banter can get heated on both side I know that being said these united fans wouldnt agree with any violence or incitement of violence.
City last year had fans singing Munich chants while it’d nowhere near the same as putting innocent fans lives at risk it’s not accaptable either.

my facebook photos are full of abusive pics about things concerning city, sent from utd fans as a joke. One is a child cruelty picture with a city top involved, very bad taste. On a par with munich chanting, at the end of the day its a moral thing and nobody gets hurt. Not acceptable though.
This is causing pain and hurt for a laugh and its not good. Anybody remember the banner for wayne rooney, i dont seem to remember one rag fan saying they went too far.

Danny Salford Red. I’m willing to downgrade from all to quite a lot. Whereas many United fans wouldn’t incite violence all bar ONE I know think this sorry episode is quite amusing and harmless. The fact that I’ll be there with my nine year old son seems not to register with them. Granted, my opening post was on the heavy side and for that I apologise. As for others mentioning Munich chants I can say hand on heart this is a bugbear for most City fans.

Let’s all just chill… no reason to get all upset over some bloke’s first contribution to this site… truth is there are jerk-off fans for all teams all around the world… and whining about it won’t make a bit of difference whilst they hide behind the anonymity of the internet. Let’s just try not to be like those people. So, reds and blues can’t we all just get along and… go after those bloody scousers! j/k

I’m a blue but half of my family are reds. Banter is banter but inciting other fans to wilfully cause trouble to rival fans is sick. I felt disgusted at the Munich chants and I am disgusted by this. Ain’t no place for it here in football. This is sport and there is a thing called “sportsmanship” which really seems to be dying out. If I can’t win fair and square then I take no pleasure out of it. If I am beaten by a better player I accept it and acknowledge it. I was happy for my fams when United did the treble. Some idiots ain’t got a clue about sport

Interesting that Matthew Twit decided to write this story rather than the story that is really violent and letting down your nation. The Welsh fan murdered at wembley…?

HE would rather be a Bitter Blue and stop a few internet geeks have banter on the internet. If Matthew Twit really thinks internet forums will spark the 16 year old itallians into battle then he obviously hasnt been to many European Away matches in his life time in Italy.

I have.. There will be trouble out there for the City fans who want a bit and there will be no trouble for the city fans who dont want it. It’s that simple.

Now get a life Matthew Twit and you’ll find that there are many Man City fans on the Red Issue Forum… Most of them are ticket touts! (Shocking)

      September 7, 2011 at 5:20 pm

Mike your an arse simple !!! It’s nowhere near just Internet banter if you seen or read what these sick animals where writing you may see just how wrong you are here. I agree the national media have not taken this story up which endangers the lives of true football fans. English fans have been set apon across europe because if these idiots and their sort. They would rarther pick up a story of an 11 month old email that may or may not have been sent by a member of the clubs staff. United blog sites like this one who seem to encourage an anti city culture and their fans get a pass. Even when they go too far and putting innocent fans who travel to enjoy away days and get to see a match with their team ??

I’m an arse? I’ve been to Italy and been in the Olympic stadium whilst watching riot police battering the shite out of these people. The general rule is to keep your distance and your fine!!!! Your an absolute idiot for not listening to someone who has been going abroad for years. Turkey, Italy, Spain, Greece, Japan, Russia, America and I can tell you now these boards mean NOTHING! Trouble starts though rowdy people who think they are ten men who make strange with the wrong locals! There are many vile comments and stories but it’s all talk. There will still be some idiot from England and one from Italy who fancy them selves! Also if you can’t be so easy about the cancer cook story because it demands to be taken seriously! It’s NOT acceptable!

Is this the same group of fans that stood outside Rooneys gaff threatening his family. Sounds like there is a small hardcore group of united fans that are absolute scum. Why don’t we just track them down and bring them out in to the press for what they are, sad men with challenging needs. Probably EDL or Nazi worshipers. it wouldn’t surprise me. As for the Munich chants, yeah theya re otu of order, but when did a chant kill someone, everyone knows the italians bring knifes out to play with, and this is just stupid, but these men are warped and produce a really bad image for United, United should be as keen to get these dickheads as much as the Police because they tarnish the clubs image. The Rooney saga also tarnished the clubs image, come on United, show some class and weed these stupid fuckers out. Us at City should also stop the munich chants because it’s sick.

Has anyone actually seen what was written on the Napoli forums? I saw this from quite early on and phrases such as “bananas > knives” and “Uwe Rosler >>> Maradona” were the phrases used.

How this is “inciting violence” I will never know.

  14. Anonymous

    September 7, 2011 at 7:34 pm

Also, I must point out that, as Napoli has a reputation for violence and football trouble, any violence that occurs in Naples will happen regardless of what is said on a forum.

What a stupid story . This happens all the time but as its Manchester United its frowned upon . I know for a fact as a couple of my mates (city fans) went on the roma fanzone the day before united was facing roma in rome and starting shit about how there city was going to be burnt to the ground and on the day of the match the ultras came out and assaulted the utd supporters with one getting stabbed these people often posted on the Blue Moon site so why not close that down as well and complain about how vile city fans are so Jesus christ get off your high horses nothing has come of it so stop moaning its part of modern football and stupid thugs but dont just critisise Utd for a couple of stupid fans when every other clubs are the same

As has been said by many, it’s a minority of United fans and every club has them. Regardless, it’s disgraceful behaviour and does not show the club in a good light.

As City fans I’m sure we all have United supporting mates and none of mine are like this.

You could call it an isolated incident but I can’t forget how myself and many other City fans were treated at Wembley last season. More disgraceful behaviour.
