‘New’ Arsenal vs Swansea: Team News & Predicted Team

By on September 9, 2011

It’s not really about Swansea is it. Saturday is the curtain raiser to the “New Arsenal FC” and it is a day which I personally cannot wait for…

It’s quite early in the season but I am not going to be very optimistic of Arsenal anymore. Every time I do that we end up in a very bad state.

So on Saturday, if I am going to watch the match, its only because I want to see how this new Arsenal play. Do they stand a chance against top opponents and how a German can influence a defense? Yes, of course the points are important, but that is not the main reason why I shall be watching Arsenal on Saturday. I want to watch a team assembled in a matter of days play the Arsenal way. Arsenal’s state can be compared to a guy who has just puked after drinking, yeah, it feels relieving, but can you be composed after that?

2 days ago I was optimistic, and happy that I was finally going to see a good back four, something we have no got for  2 years at Arsenal. Sadly, I forgot to take into consideration the impractical and pathetic international break and what it does to Arsenal Football Club. It was bad enough that Jack Wilshere is out for 2 months, but to add to that category Thomas Vermaelen just makes me want to throw up.

Arteta arrives as the new play maker at the club. To be fair, it is a very difficult task and its unnecessary that as fans we pressurise him to deliver. He knows what he signed up for, and he is old enough to carry out his duties as demanded. Ramsey should occupy the midfield with him.

Szczesny will be ” the pole in between the poles.“ Koscielny and Per shall be the duo at the back, with Santos and Sagna playing on either side of them. Frimpong will play the CDM role, and shall be assisted by Rasmey, Arteta will be ‘free.’ Upfront it will be the trio of RVP, Arshavin and Theo (they better do something this time).

Gervinho, Song are both suspended from this match, however Frimpong returns from a ban. Theo Walcott is fit to play Swansea.

Probable Line -up :

I don’t know how we are going to play this Saturday, but all I know is that we all are looking forward to it. hopefully it won’t be 4 red cards in 4 matches, otherwise we might as well start with 10 men in every match.

Its time Gooners, our season starts now…

In reference to our attacking trio I said to friends last season that we needed a quality striker that could lead the line and allow RVP to drop into the number 10 role. I believe he will score as many goals from here as he does leading the line as his intelligence in when to attack the box is excellent and he will be harder for defenders to pick up running from deeper. With him operating in the hole we get his creativity as well which I think we waste when he leads the line. Has the Korean been bought for this? The other consideration is that if Theo is ever going to be a striker he needs to start playing the role as his apprentiship on the wing is over. I would not like to see him trying this out against the likes of Chelsea or Spurs away as I don’t think these are games to experiment in. Games like Swansea at home however should be ideal to try playing Theo ahead of RVP, so can we assume that if Wenger doesn’t give this a go in games like this this season that Theo will never become a striker.

    Hi Gooners,

I just hope we start anew and keep focused. We have the potential and the more we will recover our suspended and injured players the higher will be our willpower towards success.

    All the best Gooners.

I think that Arsharvin is a lazy luxury and Park should play beside RVP with Theo given a roving role…if Theo goes missing again he should be replaced by Rio who we know will fight all game.Dont be surprised to see a lot of Yoss. Im not convinced with Per as he only glows when beside a great defense……this lot are not great! Still…we should be good enough to beat Swansea by the odd goal.

Replace Frimpong with Benayoun, play Ramsey central with Arteta and Benayoun switching between central attacking midfielders and wide midfielders because they can both play wide left and right respectively. Drop Arshavin for Park Chu Young and tell the forwards to rotate between central and wide positions. It’s an attacking formation but if you can’t do it when you’re in need of a win against a depleted Swansea squad when can you do it ?

RvP should actually sit deep in that formation with Theo and Park playing in the old inside forwards roles coming in to the centre from the flanks.

I just cannot believe we have all forgotten our most expensive signing ‘Oxlade-Chamberlain’. From what Ive read and heard from ‘Wrighty etc’ he is a great player in the making and should play this weekend….and Charlie…what are you on about? Drop Frimpong the only good defender we have left who can turn defense into attack in an instant. I was so glad to read we could play him, otherwise Swansea would walk pass the defense you mentioned. In the future I see Frimpong and Song as the first two names on the team sheet.

I agree with the rest of the fans that tomorrow will be the beginning of new arsenal. However, i cant wait to meet MTD again. I think also that AW should check out the style of the arsenal play may be one of the accelerators of the injuries because the kind of the small and close passess that arsenal players make may count for 80% injury risks.

Also am a big admirer of Park and i need to see him in action with arsenal kit. His finishing as well as free kicks are great. This said, he should feature tomorrow in place of arshavin. what do you say?
