TRANSFER NEWS: Chelsea Battle Man Utd For €23m Wonderkid

By on September 21, 2011

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is planning a sensational €23m (£20m) swoop for Everton starlet Ross Barkley, according to reports.

The gifted playmaker has only featured three times in an Everton shirt but the Chelsea boss has already seen enough to make a move for the 17-year old.

The young Merseysider has been branded as one of the most exciting prospects in English football and has already featured in the Three Lions under 21 squad. The Toffees will be desperate to hang onto their latest starlet but their financial woes have been well documented and €23m may prove too much to turn down.

The Mirror reported yesterday that Chelsea are determined to land the gifted midfielder despite Everton boss David Moyes’ reluctance to let Barkley leave this early on in his career. Reports have continued to grow that Manchester Untied are also interested in Barkley and are prepared to battle it out with Chelsea for his signature.
