Clarke: Liverpool Can Still Win Title

By on September 29, 2011

Liverpool No2 Steve Clarke is adamant his side can catch both Manchester United and Manchester City despite their blistering start to the season.

The Manchester clubs are joint top of the Barclays Premiership, but Clarke recalls how Chelsea started last season in similar fashion. The Blues failed to maintain their momentum, and the turn of the year saw the then Premiership champions form dip significantly, leaving the Blues second behind United.

“They are certainly two of the teams to beat, they’ve both been very impressive, but I remember at this stage last season Chelsea had started like a house on fire,” he told liverpoolfc.tv.

“As the season goes on things change, circumstances change. With some bad results some confidence can go. There’s a long way to go and there are a few teams sitting behind them who’ll be thinking they can catch them.”

Liverpool have won just once in their last three Premiership games.

Somebody should follow Clarke home and see what he is taking! To win the league is only this side short of laughable at the moment. It is no wonder fans get carried away with expectations when silly remarks such as these emanate from the management.
Feet on the ground please and let’s try for the top four as it more realistic…

I think Clarke is taking the right things. We need leaders who speaks in big letters. Of course top four is important, but we will be there if we win the league 🙂 YNWA

To hell with top four. “First is first, second is nowhere” – The Great Bill Shankly

Let’s go for the win…or at least die trying.

More chance of Titus Bramble winning world player of the year than there is Liverpool winning the league.

Where on earth has Clarke said about Liverpool winning the title this season. All he has said is ‘there are a few teams sitting behind them who’ll be thinking they can catch them’…
And already we have some who cant make sense out of what they read and make idiotic comments

And Liverpool can’t go on a bad run and lose confidence?

By the way, City and United are not “joint top”. United are top. (City are behind onGD).

The 2 previous games that we lost was our bad run. It’s done and over. Now we are all waiting for your Man Utd team to go on a bad run. Hope that it will be the worst run of the century. Dont even get me started on confidence for i will say, i hope Rooney and the rest do a Torres miss every week. LOL.

    @ SillyDilly

United have had their bad run — two draws. Why are you bothered about Torres, he plays for Chelsea.

ok Bruce. Good for united. I hope they will end the season unbeaten… but….winless as well. That means all draw. LOL. Now that would be a really bad run.
