The agent of Manchester United target Javi Garcia has told the club to contact Benfica over a possible transfer, but insists his client is fully focussed amid speculation over his future.

Garcia has been linked with an £18m move to United in recent days after impressing Sir Alex Ferguson with his performances against the Red Devils in their Champions League encounters this season.

However the players agent, Manuel Garcia Quillon, has insisted his client is not interested in discussing rumours over his future and suggested that if United were interested they should speak directly with Benfica:

“The important thing is Benfica,” told Antena 1. “If clubs are interested, they should talk to Benfica’s president and with us and then we will see.

“Right now, there is nothing serious, everything we know is through the press. It is crucial that Javi Garcia sees out his contract because Benfica are doing their part.

“He is focused on Benfica, the Portuguese Liga and the Champions League. He wants to do what is best for the club.”
