Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Linked With Shock Swoop

Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger has identified Sunderland ace Kieran Richardson as a potential January addition, according to the Daily Mirror.

Richardson started his career as a midfielder but has been impressive at left back in recent seasons and this versatility has interested Wenger, who is desperately trying to bring in a full back following a spate of injuries in that department.

The 27-year-old moved to Sunderland in 2007 for £5.5m from Manchester United and the Daily Mirror reports today that Arsenal are considering making a move this January. It’s claimed the London-born ace is considering his future and is keen to return to the capital, so a move to Arsenal could suit both parties.

Sunderland may also be keen to cash in with Martin O’Neil requiring funds to start his rebuilding project at the Stadium of Light following his recent appointment as Steve Bruce’s successor.

The move would however, be seen as something of a shock as Richardson is not the typical Wenger signing and the Frenchman has hinted he is only looking to bring in a loan signing rather than someone on a permanent deal.

why ever would we want him, there are so many other better options for us. Whatever the case though… Wenger needs to act now… if we dont get champions league football next year then I think it may be time for us to get a manager with enough balls to spend what needs to be spent to compete with the then top 4 clubs!!!

Like who exactly? And don’t reel off a load of names who are either not available, are too expensive or do not want to come to Arsenal anyway.

i just can’t imagine where wenger got this crap from.we need quality prayers that can make difference in the team. wenger has to start spending to get quality prayears for us. 5 to 6 year without anything to show as a big club like Arsenal is very bad.

Does Wenger knows what is urgency? We need new players now now and ride off craps like Asharvin, Droujou, Shamakh, Park, Sebastian. How do you expect to be on top 4 with that huge group of crapt staffs!

if this manager wait’s until the last two day’s to panic buy again he need’s to go. Everyone know’s What arsenal need’s. It is not rocket science. At least two defender’s, someone in the mid to pull the string’s and help for van persie. Henry comin back is good but not good enough we need a permanent attacker that will bag 20 to 30 goal’s a season. And you could Even say a good attackin mid to feed the strikers if you want to go all out. Wenger you need to spend big mate and pay the money. You missed out on cahill and parker last transfer window over penny’s and got mertersaker and arteta. Were is your mind gone

let richardson also consider his future at arsenal, despite his versatility, where will he play after the return of santos and gibs from injury? we need some body on aloan move and that money be spent on astriker.

Yesterday’s loss to Fulham had nothing to do with the Referee. Arsenal was not good enough. Only a manager like Wenger will be satisfied with the quality of players we have at Arsenal like Asharvin, Droujou, Shamakh, Park, Sebastian and now he wants to go for Taiwo. Please let Wenger come to terms with reality and do away with these players and rebuild the team with quality signings. Arsenal cannot be said to be a poor club. Why is the manager letting us believe so?

nothing would surprise me with wenger….if its cheap and french he will buy it……richardson isnt french but he would be cheap, so maybe he fits the bill in one sense.
wenger is content to go for 4th spot…its a money-earner which is all he is about…forget winning anything with this dithering fool in charge.

Hasn’t Wenger just signed the greatest player ever to have played for Arsenal?
    thefootballvoice.com certainly thinks so.

wenger needs to stop operating the team as a CEO would run a business, hes the manager and needs to spend- we need to clear out the has beens and should have beens and buy quailty players- but the route were going, who wants to play for arsenal?

Seriously, some of you are just plain dumb.
To those morons insulting Wenger about looking at Richardson, why dont you show us quotes from him saying he is looking at the guy!!!
This is just another rumour, and Wenger simply doesn’t talk about transfer targets,so wake up to yourselves.
Sick of reading negative crap that gets written as soon as we lose a game. You were all kissing his arse a month ago.
    Staunch supporters,you lot!!!
Hate to be in the trenches with you.

I agree with scott. Look at what wenger has givin us and with pennys hes done it. Its easy to go out like city and spend billions and be boring. Me i like too see a player grow… Fabregas.. Van pierse. Song.. Sagna but i dont like players with no interest anymore… Arshavin… Chamach… Djouru….and im extremly disappointed with arteta. Too into his looks and likes his dives. We need a cf to support van pierse. Every time we break it gets slowed up from van pierse being surrounded. Walcott needs to be benched and ox needs his turn. Theo has fantastic pace but is stumped when faces with a defender to get by unless he has 40 yrds on him. Player i miss terribly is sagna and wilshire ! Two fighters !! Maybe switch theo with arteta. Bad move putting frimpong on loan . We needed a hard strong midfielder ! We need a striker and cf without a doubt. And a proved player. Im 25 yrs suppourting gunners but wenger dont spend big. And hey im no manager so what ever he does im sure his best interests are with us.
