CESC FABREGAS: Hung out to dry by broke Barca bullies

Cesc Fabregas has been stitched-up by Barcelona. No doubt at the end of last season he was promised a quick deal to secure his exit from Arsenal and join his beloved Barca. His dream was coming true. Only problem was that these were the promises of an out-going president at a broke club. After a rather embarrassing public pursuit, which includes daily ‘we would love Cesc to join us’ calls from Barca players, it seems that Cesc may be forced to remain in London for at least one more season.

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has admitted it’s looking unlikely that they will sign Cesc Fabregas this summer, despite the midfielder once again reiterating his desire to join the Spanish outfit. Rosell has confirmed that there are no talks between the two clubs at present and claims Arsenal are not interested in listening to any offers for their captain.

“Arsenal feels very hurt by Barça,” Rosell told to Catalan TV3. “They don’t want to listen to offers or sell and they are not putting the player [Fábregas] on the market. There was a strong dispute a few months ago and they have not forgotten it.”

However, Rosell is still confident Fabregas will wear the Barca shirt in the near future but claims the club will not push the boat out to sign the 23-year-old.

“He will arrive, even if it is not now, it will be next year,” said Rosell. “We will see. One thing that is certain is that we will not go mad trying to sign him. No shareholder would pay €60m or 70m for him. We will not go all out for him. We would only pay his value in the transfer market.”

Arsenal have finally stood up to the playground bully and it seems to have done the trick. Just like when your dad would tell you when you were younger; ‘don’t let anyone push you around son, the bullies will soon back down if you stick up for yourself’, Arsenal have taken this advice on board and told the Barca bullies where to go and predictably they have backed-off like the cowards they are.

Fabregas has been seriously badly advised during this whole saga. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Barca, or at least their new president, don’t value him as highly as they should or he thought they did. They clearly don’t want to pay what should be required for a player of his ability and if Cesc had any sense he would be seriously put-out by Rosell saying they wont ‘go all out for him’. Cesc was being used by former president Laporta as some sort of goodbye present to the club, a way of securing his legacy, and now the new guy isn’t fussed if they buy him or not. Cesc has been hung out to dry by Barca who he thought would do all they could to sign him, only to find out they are broke and can’t afford him. He has been unsettled at Arsenal for nothing.

Maybe someone should have told Cesc what his president-to-be was saying before he reaffirmed his desire to join the Catalans:

“I have not spoken to anybody in the last few days and I want to ignore anything regarding my future for now,” he said.

“I want to enjoy my holidays and I don’t want to talk about Barcelona at this moment.

“I make no apologies for the comments I have made in the past. I have expressed my interest in returning and I stand by that, as that is my personal wish.”

Maybe now is the time Cesc gets his agent to earn his wage and sort this mess out. Contact Arsenal and find out for sure that we’re not interested in selling him and this isn’t all part of the transfer game as a way to increase the price, that way Cesc can get his head around staying at Arsenal next year and put an end to this ridiculous affair.

The only way Cesc will be joining Barcelona is if they are willing to pay what he is worth…they can’t and just as important, they wont…so end of story. For now…….

Cesc has never at any time said he wanted to go to Barcelona. if you can find any quotes attributable to him to that effect, please post them. If anything he has said the opposite. He said he was in no hurry to leave Arsenal.

Second, he did not affirm his desire to move. He said he stands by all comments he’s made in the past. Since he never said he wanted to leave you can not interpret that to mean a reaffirmation.

Seriously Oliver….wake up mate. If you don’t know Cesc want’s to join Barca by now you need some help.

Of course he isn’t going to come out and blatantly say ‘i wanna join Barca’, it would be disrespectful to Arsenal, but even the most determined Arsenal fan will know by now that he DID ask Wenger to leave this summer. Whether it happens is another thing.

Seriously Fab4, it is a fact that Cesc has not said he wants to go to Barca, and did not say he was reiterating his early request.

        Facts matter.

          Don –

Is it a fact that Cesc has not publically said the words ‘i want to leave Arsenal now and join Barcelona’ = Yes

But unfortunately this is neither relevant or realistically ever going to happen. It is rare a player ever actually says the words in public. He has however told Arsene in private, told all his mates and family (his Dad HAS confirmed Cesc wants to go this summer) and made it clear something is going on by his actions and words in the media.

Has he actually denied he wants to leave when asked recently = NO!

Why would he be saying ‘lets see what happens’ or ‘i have made my feelings clear’ if nothing was going on??? His actions speak far louder than any words im afraid. The fact is, he loves Arsenal, is appreciative for what we have done for him, but he would like to re-join Barca this summer, but understands if this can’t happen for whatever reason and he would be happy to stay on.

what annoys me is that we havent stood up to them at all – we shoudl have reported them fr tapping him up

the final piece of this saga says it all – ‘if its not this year, then it will be next’ – hands up who thinks that they dont have the money and never had the money and that this whole sorry affair has been a way to pave the road for making their real move next year, when Xavi is 33 and they need to seriously think about replacing him…..

the guy has sounded uncommited to arsenal cause everytime he has opened his mouth regarding Barca. Cesc can easily put this to bed but has’nt. I dont want him sold but if his non commital is anything to go by then he will be very de-motivated to be playing for us nx yr. Just for the sake of not giving Barca an easy ride we should keep him at least 1 more yr but at the same time most of his comments since he stated his disire to return have been non commital to the mighty Arsenal cause. Barca can eat a fat one

    FC Barcelona = FC Bankruptcy

They have absolutely no respect for others, so shouldn’t expect any respect in return.

Their whole team shamelessly taps up other team’s players under the very eyes of the impotent Platini who does nothing.

They don’t even have an ounce of self respect urging them to open up negotiations their transfer dealings with a club in proper meetings. Instead they choose their pimps in the press to whore the club out to the world!

They’re right, they are “more than a club”. They are a financially and morally bankrupt whorehouse!

possibly mate, that could be it, but I get the feeling that even if Cesc does leave us at some point, Arsenal will hope it’s not to Barca and I concur.

As the turds at FIFA & UEFA won’t take action against Barcelona for their blatant tapping up of Cesc Fabregas ( behaviour that breaks their rules ) then Arsenal fans in their thousands should write letters of complaint about this posting one each to UEFA & FIFA.
If both bodies are too gutless to take action against Barcelona, then if thousands of Arsenal fans post letters it will hopefully cause the 2 bodies a huge administrative headache. I would go so far as suggesting repeatedly posting letters once a week.

This is all rubbish. The fact is Fabregas WANTS to leave. Barcelona have acted distastefully, but they wouldn’t have bothered if Fabregas didnt’ want to leave. Now Arsenal are stuck with a player who has admitted he wants to join Barcelona, not next year, but NOW. Arsenal have to be careful how they handle Fabregas if they don’t want an unhappy player at the club, which would be highly counter-productive.

      July 16, 2010 at 2:11 pm

I know he wants to leave, Fabregas has always said he wanted to leave ONE DAY to re-join Barca, it just happens that he decided this was the time. The point is, he has obviously been given the impression by someone at Barca (probably the ex-pres Laporta) that they would get the deal done if he asks Wenger to leave. Now its back-fired. So no, its not all rubbish.

Fab4 stop being delusional… does he have to say it in black and white before you see it. This boy wants to leave now. That ONE DAY qoute is BS. This is no longer about one day. It’s about now. Do u believe he wants to wait till he’s 29 or 30? Wake up and see through the smoke. He’s not even using ur one day anymore. He is probably disappointed we dont want to meet with barca to discuss this deal. His words are becoming more none committal by the day.

Think you have the wrong end of the stick mate. Go and read my previous comments again. I was saying to another commentor that Fabregas has previous said many times he wants to join Barca ONE DAY, but has now decided this summer is when he wants to make the move. So im agreeing with everything you just said.

yup, i heard from a respected football journalist that Cesc has indeed asked for a move to Barca this summer for undisclosed reason. i dont know what to say anymore, it tires me a lot reading those comments made by barca players as well as other barca officials. we want him to stay of course, but i truly disrespect someone who doesnt have clear mind what to say or do. Cesc has never said publicly he wants a move but you can clearly read his intention by the words he said earlier in the summer. a player who doesnt seek a transfer move will never say “what will be will be”. those are not a word from a committed player and i dislike him because of that. will he be a good captain next season? i do hope so. but it doesnt stop me from dreaming of trophies because i know we can whether with him or without. there are 11 players on the field and each of them can be effective if they want to perform

This proves that the reported mini-meeting in South Africa did take place. It reveals that Arsenal told Rosell that Cesc is not for sale and that Arsenal are still pissed off that Barca broke their “gentleman’s agreement” not to pursue Cesc.

It also implies that the deal was always that Cesc would join them at some point in the future. I wonder if that’s still on. This year is going to be hellish for Cesc. He’s been caught flirting and that never plays well with Gooners. Look how the love ran out on Adebayor after he was caught looking for a transfer. Our relationship was never the same.

This year we’ll be treated to “January transfer”. Next year, it will all be about how much Barca will pay at the end of the season.

Lets just hope Cesc acts like a man through all this.

I think this situation is a bit different than the one with that sack of shit Adebayor. Cesc is being much more respectful than him. Adebayor was shopping for any team, talking about leaving, insulting the team, strolling, getting into fights with teammates, and kissing the badge all at the same time.

Cesc on the other hand is at least staying fairly tight lipped about everything and he’s only trying to go back to one club; which is his hometown, where his family lives. I just hope he continues to show his great work ethic and has another strong year. Then hopefully we can win something, and he further proves their bid price to be ridiculous, gets us more money, and move on. Or Barca has less successful year, will go even further in debt, go belly up, and he decides to stay a little longer(this theory is a dream I know).

This is not v. complicated, we have no obligation to sell him to Barca, I am sure Madrid will be happy to pay us 40M plus one of their decent players. I say sell his Arse to Madrid or whoever is willing to pay fair market value. I won’t be disappointed if he stays but I am sure he will get the Eboue/Bendtner treatment at the emirates. I will be disappointed if he continues to keep the Captain’s armband, we can not have a captain who has clearly express his wish to play for another team.

After the despical antics of Barca this summer, I strongly feel that they won’t be getting Cesc next year. He still cannot buy out his contract, the bad blood between Arsenal and Barcelona will remain for many years, I hate them more than the spuds and west ham, and will do forever. The Arsenal Board will be aware of emotions among the fans and will not be dealing DIRECTLY with Barca. If he goes next season, and it is a big IF, This Mighty Club will screw every last penny out of his value on the open market. Just my opinion.

it’s not about money – wenger has stated many times that his plan is about getting a group of players and keeping them together over a period of time. he didn’t want to sell hleb and flamini but couldn’t prevent them leaving because of their contracts. cesc cannot just walk out since he has a long term deal. and if wenger doesn’t have to sell him he wont. i predict he will be with us for at least another three years.

Cesc wants to leave. He even said so but he didnt want to make it too obvious he wants to go to barcelona these were the exact words he said “I want to finish my career in my home city.”(In his spanish accent) we all know his home city is barcelona because thats the place were he spent most his life, maybe some of you bummer cluts might go check the exact place were he was born but like i said he spent most his life!!!!! BARCELONA!!!!!. SO IF ANY OF YOU DUMB WASTE GASHES STILL THINK HE WANT TO LEAVE THEN CHECK ON !!!!TALK FOOTBALL!!!! he said “I want to finish my career in my home city.” there. I cant believe none of you wastes heard of it they wayne rooney on 2 months ago and frank lampard last week.

Arsenal won’t complain to FIFA or UEFA because this might end the pursuit of Cesc completely and I’m not sure that’s what Arsenal want.. Arsenal are hedging their bets, as do most clubs in this situation. Most clubs say they don’t want to sell their player at any price, then in the end they usually sell them for a good price. If FIFA or UEFA stepped in every time this situation happened they will spoil what in reality is a game of poker/chess between the two clubs to get the best deal. For me, Barca have gone too far with this by a long way, but if they offered the true value of Cesc (say £45-£50M) then I’m sure Arsenal will sell. Why should they sell him for less than he is worth?

if he stays then he must be stripped of the captain’s armband. since th14 and now fab4 and even to a lesser extent pv4 the armband at arsenal has become an joke. every summer our captain wants to leave. of course, the blame is with wenger for making the wrong decision time and time again in appointing the armband. on the one occasion that he got the armband correct he blew it with gallas. give the armband to song.

as for cuntalonia and cesc they can both go screw themselves. if cesc wants to go now then we sell the traitor on the open market for as much money as possible.

and one last thing: where is our new goalkeeper? wenger better buy one or there will be hell to pay.

and just for the record i don’t blame cesc for wanting to leave. wenger will not win again in england with his current love affair for midget midfield players and clown faced goalkeepers.

WHat you SPANISH BARCA FANS NEED TO UNDERSTAND. WE DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT WHAT CESC WANTS! Life isnt fair cesc deal with it! You are an arsenal player we pay you alot of moneyl You are our mercenary for winning trophies! You dont wanna be here? uuh well to bad, you are here, you take your wage and you play.

Fab4, you were pranked! The barcelona fans and management does not value you too high. if they did they would pay a decent price as a thansk to arsenal for nuturing the talent they could not see you had(and that is the truth!). thank god Arsenal had and pushed you through the 1st team andgave you a chance to break trough!. As cescs dad says “we made his boy into a man”. Now it is time for him to pay us back and deliver us trophies.

PS who wanna go to barca anyway this year? Real and Murino will own your asses. You will winn nothing this year. Real will take it all…
