Arsenal Transfer News: Chief Confirms Gunners Close To £13m Signing

Montpellier vice president Laurent Nicollin has confirmed Arsenal are close to clinching the signing of striker Olivier Giroud.

The 25-year-old scored 25 goals last season to help Montpellier land their first ever Ligue 1 title, resulting in interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the French hitman in recent months as boss Arsene Wenger looks to add to the arrival of German striker Lukas Podolski.

According to the Independent, Montpellier’s vice president Nicollin is quoted as saying talks with Arsenal are progressing very well after the North London outfit triggered Giroud’s release clause in his contract, believed to be around £13m.

When quizzed about talks with Arsenal over Giroud, Nicollin is quoted in the Independent as saying:

“Discussions are happening and going well, as part of the (release) clause set. Things are moving serenely,”

Arsene Wenger is trying to offload the likes of Nicklas Bendtner, Marouane Chamakh and Carlos Vela to make room for Giroud in his squad, and the acquisition will hopefully be further proof to captain Robin van Persie that the Gunners mean business next season.

Obviously,it is a better signing if wenger brings in olivier giroud,yann m’villa to arsenal in addition to Allan Dzagoev,Robert lewandowski and Jan vertonghen as it wuld be no accident to my predition coz wilshere will not be 100% fit to the game as he nid 2-3 games rest nxt season.Dont forget rightback sagna is injured buy Debunchy.Next 2012-2013 season will be our.I bet u if u denied.

We don’t need to sign too many players against next season, we only need about four players. So let’s hope that the Giroud deal will be done and dusted pretty soon, so that we can quickly go after Yann, that is if he’s not already in d Arsenal bag. This will mean that we’ve signed three fantastic players, so the attack and the midfield have been taken care of. The next player I really wish to see wearing our Red and White colour is Jan Vertoghen, the Ajax skipper. Looks like there’s a chinese wall now on his move to Tottenham, after Mr Harry got the sack. So we can pick him up to help the defence also. I believe with these four players, we are good to go next season and with little injury luck on our side, who knows…

Its always so unfortunate on how wenger react to signing of players.Wenger finds it always difficult to go for a quick catch up.You noticed that each time wenger goes for any player other coaches uses their monetary power to grab such player before wenger react to the player.Wenger does the findings others does the buying.Therefore we employ wenger to pls make his moves and purchase on time.CHEERS to my other colleagues.
