Tottenham Line Up £7.5m Bid For Liverpool Starlet

By on July 31, 2012

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Spurs are linked with Raheem Sterling.

Raheem Sterling

Tottenham Hotspur are mulling over a £7.5m move for Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling, according to the Daily Mail.

The 17-year-old winger is one of the most highly-rated youngsters at Liverpool having joined the club in 2010, ending a seven-year stint at Queens Park Rangers.

His former side have enquired about taking Sterling back on a year-long loan but Spurs want him on a permanent basis and are ready to test Liverpool’s resolve with a £7.5m bid, if the Mail are to be believed.

Sterling was rarely used under former boss Kenny Dalglish, only making 3 substitute appearances towards the end of last season, despite calls from some of the Anfield faithful to give him some playing time.

However, new manager Brendan Rodgers appears to be willing to give the youngster his chance and the player has impressed during the Reds pre-season tour of America.

Despite what the Daily Mail report, a move to Spurs is highly unlikely. Liverpool are looking to build a team for the future and selling one of their key youngsters is not going to be high on Brendan Rodgers’ agenda.

What do you expect from AVB?
He is absolutely clueless and I’m sure in hiring him, the job des Tipton was to emulate Rogers!
      1. Buy a their targets!
      2. Try and buy their youngsters!
      3. Play possession football!
      4. Can we change our uniform to Red?

Hahaha. . . You are right!!!!

Spur believe “if others want to sign him, he must be good” and “if Liverpool want to sign him then he must be very good”.

What a plank you are. The players that are “Your targets” 1. Sigurdsson we also a target for Man u and Ac Milan made enquiries does that mean you were after there target? 2. Allen he has been class in the league this season so i don’t see why you automatically think touch would be the only club looking at him! 3. gaston ramirez most of Europe is after him. If there are good players out there obviously other clubs would want them its the way football is! And as for AVB why don’t you pass judgments once we are halfway through the season? when we will probably be sitting above you!

Spurs must be saving a fortune on scouting as they clearly don’t do any. They just chase all Liverpool’s transfer targets and then try to buy their young players as well. You couldn’t make it up! They can have Jay Spearing and Charlie Adam.

Yes we are trying for a mid table finish by chasing all Liverpool players and targets. And of course he is worth 22.5 million. No wonder you paid 35 million for Andy Carrol

I want some what you’ve been smoking sounds like its doing wonders for your imagination. I know its silly season but come guys on were do you get this sh1t from. Sterlings transfer fee from QPR rises to 5.5m depending on games played. So if spurs decide to absorb that cost they’ll be paying 13m for a youngster unproven at the highest level. Its not going to happen no matter how good he is.

Ken, AVB is head coach, not manager of Spurs. Levy is the one who is doing the buying, or lack of. AVB only advises Levy who we buy.

Comical Liverfool fans. LMFAO. £22 million for a 17 yr old who has never played pemiership football. LOL. No wonder you spend £35mill on Carrol and £20 million on Henderson and Downing. No wonder why you think he is worth so much. I have only watched the kid play in one game, against our kids in the NextGen cup when we won 1-0 (Pool later reported us for fielding an ineligable player) Even though we won this kid was the best player on the park, but we don’t need him, no way he can break int our team but taking into account how rubbish Liverpool are he should be 1st choice at Anfield. Also, to all Liverpool fans saying we chase their targets, name me 1? Don;t say Gylfi as there were a whole host of clubs in for him and technically he was a BR target for Swansea NOT A LIVERPOOL one, he only became a Liverpool target when BR left Swansea. We go in or top players these days, why would we want to associate ourselves with LFC??? It makes no sense from a footballing point of view or a business point of view, we are on the up, Liverpool are in decline. BTW, you can keep Adam and the rest of your crap players like Lucas, Henderson, Downing, Old Gerrard, Spearing, Shelvey. Bloddy hell the list goes on and on and on and on……

name ur player, man to man for liverpool , just because you finish in top of liverpool for two season doesnt make it a better team than liverpool, a champions league cameo doesnt make it better than liverpool, grow up in fact in capital letter GROW UP. match gerrard, saurez agger, reina ,lucas at the end of the season with ur player then come and talk to me. silly judgement for a footbal fan

          • hahaha

            July 31, 2012 at 10:25 pm

Kaboul is better than Agger. reina has been Average for the last two seasons. Sandro will probably be better than lucas with another season in the prem. but yeah you have got me on saurez! even though he is a twat!!!

    SuaRed’s comment said it all.

Why does anyone believe the tripe the so called football journalist’s write. I’m sure they make it up or use the 1+1=11 method (sounds plausable but is totally wrong). Or they use somewhat dubious information from ITK websites, that are probably written by 10 year olds about the transfers in football manager for their source information.

What rubbish. I saw someone mention this guy in some blog, and the Daily Mal decided to spew this out. We have dos Santos on our books and even Townsend looks a decent bet.Liverpool fans now getting excited about it. And anyway I reckon the scouting going to improve tremendously and we will probably get some Portuguese kid that will most almost nothing, and who is better.

This rumour is rubbish – i mean why go to spurs??? I like spurs but surely it’s not going to progress his career & I just dont see liverpool wanting to sell one of their top players. Only reason Sigurdsson chose spurs simply because spurs were will to pay him more money – and liverpool weren’t prepared to pay him that amount.

I suppose it wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact we have finished above your lot for the past 3 years and it’s about to be 4 come the end of this season. Yes money talks but look at our squad compaired to yours and ask yourself: Who would you rather play alongside. Lennon, Bale, VDV, Ade (soon to be announced)Vertonghen, or would you rather play alongside Henderson, Downing, Adam, spearing, Shelvey etc etc. No brainer, even if Spurs offered me less I would still play for them instead of your muggy team

        July 31, 2012 at 6:13 pm

Look you have some decent players but so do we… Yes our team isn’t great either but neither liverpool or spurs are going to win anything major in the next couple of years. Look at the young players coming through – the youth at liverpool is good – probably the best setup in the country. We do have some good players as well, Suarez, Borini, Lucas, Gerrard, Agger, Skrtel, Reina etc all are top quality players

Sterling will never be worth £7.5million at Liverpool. He needs to go out on loan and learn his trade in the championship. As for the debate about spurs vs liverpool. Spurs are technically better, but in dire need of strikers now. Not much between them until spurs plug a few gaps and then there will be no comparison to be made. Spurs would be miles ahead.

My god. Liverpool have fallen massively. Their fans are complete and utter cu nts now, I swear they were never like this. Must be all the chavvy shell suit wearing kids that’s are growing up now and are allowed to use their single mums computer, which us tax payers pay their bills!

The place is a shit hole, one of the worst in the countries and you can’t understand a word they say, plus their team is pure shit now they still think they have a better team than spurs! Hahahahah

I know spurs aren’t great but after the last few seasons we have shown we are 10 times better than the mighty pool!

    YNWA! Bore off!
