Liverpool vs Reading: Preview, Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score

Anfield Kop

Liverpool get back to Premier League action after the two week international break as they welcome Reading to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers side have struggled at home so far this season and after being held to a 0-0 draw by Stoke City last time out, the Reds are still searching for their first win at Anfield this term.

Striker Luis Suarez will come under the microscope once again after being criticised for diving during the Stoke stalemate. However, Rodgers will be relying on the Uruguayan for goals after seeing his striking options limited further by an injury to Fabio Borini, who has been ruled out for 3 months with an ankle injury.

Reading go into the game unbeaten in their last three matches and recorded a 2-2 draw at Swansea last time out.

Team News

Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina is a doubt for the game after picking up a hamstring problem while warming up before Spain’s encounter with France on Tuesday. However, the experienced stopper is expected to be fit.

Striker Fabio Borini is out for 3 months after fracturing his ankle while away with the Italian national squad but defender Jose Enrique returned to training this week and should start.

Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is in contention again after returning from a three-match ban but could miss out with Nuri Sahin preferred alongside Joe Allen in midfield.

Reading could be without striker Noel Hunt who is struggling with a heel complaint, but midfielder Mikele Leigertwood is available after overcoming a dead leg.

Goalkeeper Adam Federici remains on the sidelines so Alex McCarthy continues to deputise.

What kind of respect do you expect to get, football-talk.co.uk, when you line up Agger on the RIGHT and Skrtel on the LEFT? They’ve NEVER had that formation, and they never will! Sort it out lads!
