Arsenal Player Ratings For The Debacle In Bradford
Arsenal crashed out the Capital One Cup after a shock penalty shoot-out defeat to Bradford City after the game ended 1-1. Here are player ratings from the game by Lloyd the Gooner.
The feckless and the useless! Remember where Bradford City are in the league. You cannot say the players didn’t try. That is the most worrying thing. The away support was absolutely amazing. They never wavered in their support and were even louder in the darkest moments. The midfield, as ever, was the big problem. Who was the no 10 coming deep? Who was the man who could take the ball no matter the circumstances? Where were the leaders? We have gone from Adams, Bergkamp and Vieira in those roles to the straw men we saw last night. Anger is justified. I saw plenty of leaders in Bradford City shirts.
Szczesny 6. Needs to learn to me come off his line. Apart from that he was not the issue in this game.
Sagna 5. Decent on a night when that couldn’t be said to often. Always gives his all. His crossing was poor as with so many others.
Mertesacker 4. Part of a troubled defence. Uncertain when it mattered.
Vermaelen 3. An international Premier League defender; Captain of the club. He looked hesitant and under pressure throughout the game. That said he showed some heart at the hardest thing of all getting a goal. Needs to rediscover his form, quickly.
Gibbs 5. Steady. Also showed some moments of class. Like every other Arsenal player rarely found an accurate cross.
Coquelin 4. Always tries but lacked the ability to dominate in this game.
Cazorla 6. Never hides. Hopefully some sensible buys to play with him will make him into a better player for the Gunners.
Wilshere 6. Played like a spoiled child early on in the game. Then showed more of his talent. As with Santi and Rosicky needs some power alongside him to function properly. When we were really at it he was at the heart of it.
Ramsey 1. A useless liability throughout. Why play him with Rosicky on the bench?
Gervinho 5. He troubled their defence occasionally but a very frustrating player at the moment. Even his own team don’t know what he is going to do.
Podolski 2. Needs a complete makeover as Arsenal player. Lacks the courage to play and to lead. He has over a hundred caps for Germany for goodness sake! It must be time to give him his chance down the middle.
Chamakh. He is useless most of the time. Needs to leave, surely.
Oxlade-Chamberlain. His youth lets him off the hook really. Didn’t do much. Couldn’t cross, why?
Rosicky. An Arsenal standard player at least. The best player on the night.
