Wenger Turns Down Chance To Sign £8m M’Vila?

By on January 8, 2013

With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Arsenal turn down M’Vila.

Yann M'Vila

Bad news Gooners, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has apparently turned down the chance to sign Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila for just £8m, according to the Metro.

The report claims Wenger has been tracking the French midfielder over the past year but despite his interest, has never followed up with a formal bid.

The Metro report that we were given the opportunity to sign M’Vila for a cut-price £8m last week but Wenger is said to to rejected the chance to bring the 22-year-old to the Emirates due to concerns over the players attitude after a string of disciplinary problems.

M’Vila’s agent, Tim Hager, has confirmed Arsenal are yet to make any formal move for the midfielder despite the speculation in the papers:

‘There is interest from a lot of clubs. Yann has a good contract at Rennes – it is possible that we can stay there and be patient,’

‘Every transfer window we are asked about Arsenal because of what the newspapers say, but I have not spoken to them about Yann.’

Tim Hager is quoted as saying by the Metro.

If this report is accurate, I will be gutted. We desperately need a powerful, ball-winning and athletic midfielder to compliment the talents of Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere and M’Vila would fit the bill nicely.

He would be a great addition to the squad and if we could snap him up for just £8m, it would be a bargain. Yes, he’s got his attitude issues but I’m sure Wenger could tame him. He’s no Balotelli, is he!

If Arsene has turned down the chance to sign M’Vila, let’s hope it’s because he’s got something else lined up soon. We’ve got a crazy busy month ahead and need fresh faces sharpish.

        @Gooner

thank you for being so sensible.

We will never spend 60mm in a January window…even with the money available it’s so much harder to find good value…plus it’s Wenger, so 60? Hopefully 2 QUALITY players

He knows what he is doing and still plays remsey when we have guys like podolski, arshavin, rocisky on the bench. He killed players like chamakh, denielson, arshavin! He sold song for nothing, no reason and now wants to drain arteta so he can get all the 10m he paid to sign him out of him. I don’t know if he still knows what’s he’s doing.

Wow – I can only assume you were dropped on your head as a child.

Ramsey had a great game against Swansea…

Podolski has played 85% plus of all games this season, Ashvarin was given a chance but won’t work for it… and he sold Song for 15 million… with 18 months left on his contract and him flirting with Barca. Hardly nothing.

Before questioning Wenger, trying to get your facts straight as it makes you look like a knob when you make crap up.

as for Denilson and Chamack (aparently in your opinion our saviour) not every player will work out. check Veron, Forlan for united or Shevchenko for Chelsea… yet we paid next to nothing for Denilson and Chamack was free…

Finally – with the actual article. GHow can Wenger turn down the chance to sign MVilla, if he hasn’t even approached Rennes? That is impossible. If that’s the Case Wenger has turned down the chance to sign…

Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi, Falco etc.

It would appear this is just another knuckle dragging site only intrested in hits rather than facts.

          Another to block from Newsnow.

Arsenal FC transfer policy is all about deceit. If Mr Wenger is not buying M’villa at £8m he may buy another player of lesser quality at the same or higher price. Let cast our mind back to last season when Cahill was put into the market by Bolton Fc. Wenger told us the management of Bolton are “selfish” and “greedy”. Much later Cahill was sold to Chelsea for £6m. Wenger sold Clinchy to Mancity for the same price and buy Santos for £6.2m. Is that good business? There other extravagant purchases like that eg.compare Giroud(£12m), Gevinho(£12m).Park(£8m),Poldoski(£12m),etc and other clubs acqsitions like Moses (£7m), Ba (£7.5m),Michu (£2m),Cabaye(£6m), Debachy etc. You will have fair view Of damages they have done to the Arsenal. Can any of those players including Santos command the same price today?

Wenger is a prick who is ruining our beloved club and instead of going forward and buying big players we always look for the bargain and then miss out. To get a defensive midfielder of MVila’s quality for just 8 million when he was 25 million last year is a bargain we need. If Wenger does not buy what the fans want then we must call for Wenger to resign and for Guardiola to come in as Wenger has lost the plot. Losing to many targets to arch rivals and the way it’s going we are heading downwards instead of upwards and the Spuds will eventually be above us in quality players and league position and that hurts to say. The players Wenger should had snapped up are:

    MVila or Fillaini
    Zaha
    Butland
    Lopez or Lorente
    Lars Bender
    Baines
None of these players have come in and look not likely to come in. Players like MCcarthy from Wigan we should not be going for. David Villa we knew wouldn’t come as Barcelona are being teats even though we have sold them many top players in the past and he fact they still owe us money for Fabregas and Song deals. We should demand the money to put towards players or the boards pockets lol. And we should stop selling players to Barcelona in the future.

I watched the FA clash against Swansea, and I was really disappointed with the Arsenal midfield. In fact, the way the midfielders marked was devastating. Instead of them to mark man-to-man, they were busy shadow marking. We need physical strength in the midfield. We need people like M’Villa who is a born defensive midfielder. Wenger should not come up with flimsy excuses. It seems he is a scout for other clubs, he sees them first and let them go to other clubs.
