Despite the transfer window now being closed there will still be plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Mamadou Sakho is ready to consider his future in the summer.
The 22-year-old has come through the youth ranks at PSG after joining as a 12-year-old and has already made 180 appearances for the senior team, captaining the side on several occasions.
However, Sahko has found first team football more difficult to come by in recent months with the French giants wealthy owners spending heavily in the transfer market and big-money signings such as Thiago Silva have forced the central defender to sit on the bench more often than not this season.
Sky Sports claim several Premier League including the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Senegal-born defender and he’s made it clear he’s ready to move on in search of first team football in order to secure his place in the France team for the 2014 World Cup:
“I will do everything to play at the 2014 World Cup, but I need to be playing week in, week out,”
“I cannot accept playing just a few minutes this season and next because this is a decisive moment in my career.
“At the end of the season I will sit down with my agent and club officials and clear up the situation.
“If I have to leave PSG to keep my place in the France national team, then I have no choice but to leave.”
When asked specifically about rumours linking him with Arsenal and Liverpool, Sakho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports:
“I adore the English Premier League.”
Sakho is a defender I admire a lot and I feel he’d be a great addition to either Arsenal or Liverpool if they decide to follow-up their reported interest in the summer. It seems like the player may be keen on a move to England if his situation doesn’t change during the second half of the season, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is severe competition from around Europe if Sakho is available at the end of the season, such is his talent.
