His impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed throughout Europe with talkSPORT claiming the defensive midfielder has attracted interest from Premier League duo Arsenal and Tottenham, but the north London rivals may face competition from Fiorentina with the Italians understood to have already opened talks with the players agent over a potential move to Serie A.

Can we please stop this nonsense about Spurs only going after players that Arsenal scouted first and vice versa? both clubs have a network of scouts andboth also receive tipoffs from journalists as well as calls from agents. It is inevitable that both clubs with similar budgets and wage structure, both operating in the popular London area and at roughly the same level in the Prem, will be chasing the same players. Neither club would be so dumb as to wait for the other club to discover a player and only then start chasing them! Scouts at each club will have computer files on maybe 2000 young players across Europe….dates and length of contract, agents name, assessments of performance ranging from Opta stats to eye witness match reports plus data on personal matters (married or not, reputation as party animal, teamwork ethic, tendency to homesickness etc). That is how it works…..not through reading about a player in the papers.
