Manchester United’s controversial 3-2 aggregate defeat at the hands of Real Madrid on Tuesday night slightly overshadowed what was a momentous occasion for veteran Ryan Giggs.

The Welshman started the game to make his 1,000th career appearance at the age of 39 and while he ended up being on the losing side, it doesn’t take anything away from is a remarkable achievement.
