With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, David Moyes hits back after Jose Mourinho admits his admiration of Wayne Rooney.

David Moyes has hit back after Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had earlier admitted he was a huge fan of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

The 27-year-old’s future has been filling the back pages in recent weeks after former boss Sir Alex Ferguson claimed he asked to leave the club towards the end of last season, and Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a formal approach for his services and offer him a fresh start in the capital.

Mourinho was quizzed about his interest in Rooney during a press conference on the clubs pre-season tour of Thailand on Friday morning, and while the Blues boss was reluctant to speak about another clubs player he did admit he’s a huge fan of the England strikers.

“It’s a tricky question because I cannot speak about players from other teams.

“But you know me, it’s not my kind of character to speak with a bit of hypocrisy and I always say what I think.

“He (Rooney) is a player I like very much but I can say no more than that. Being fast and direct, I like that, but he’s a Manchester United player.” Mourinho told Sky Sports News.

These comments appear to have irked David Moyes with the United boss seemingly growing tired of having to reiterate that Rooney will not be leaving Old Trafford this summer.

Moyes also held his first press conference after arriving in Bangkok for the first leg of the champions pre-season tour, and when asked for his thoughts on Mourinho’s comments, the former Everton man didn’t hold back.

‘Unless I was speaking Double Dutch last week, we said Wayne Rooney is not for sale.

‘People are entitled to talk about good players. I’m getting asked plenty of questions about Wayne.

‘Jose has been asked about players as well. It’s hard to keep repeating myself but I will – Wayne is a Manchester United player and it will remain that way.

‘I think Jose said, in his comments, that he doesn’t normally talk about other players. But it does happen.

‘I think I’ve covered all of the things on Wayne. I’ve given you everything about his injury.

‘What you must remember is that Manchester United is a football club and I’ve got a team, and this is not about any one individual.

‘I many ways, I’m only interested in the team. I will answer questions on Wayne, but some of them are just reverting back to things I’ve covered.’ Moyes is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

Rooney is yet to publicly commit his future to United and speculation of a move intensified after he returned home from the clubs pre-season tour after just one day with an untimely hamstring injury.

It looks like this story is going to drag on throughout the summer and it will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Will Rooney try and force a move? Will he commit his future to United? Will the club cash in? We’ll have to wait and see…

Moyes will get bad results if he forces a player whose heart is no more with the club! But meanwhile,Mourinho should on his own shift his attention to players that are likely to be sold within this window and be fast about it,players such as Suarez,Yimaz and Benteke and see if he can get any of these,as Chelsea is still just dancing about every striker without really doing anything tangible!

United boss i think is not doing things he suppose to do. Having declared by ex – United boss that the player had requested to move last summer. So Moyes should not force Wayne Rooney to stay afterall he has won every triphy he likes to win and should be allowed to move. A great must not stay at one clud to the rest of his carreer and he(Rooney) is among the best and he had made up his mind to leave, i think Moyes should not interfer with decision. And for Jose Mourinho they are many other strikers in the market such as Burak Yilmez, Liuz Suarez and many others. He(Mourinho) should go them and wait till when it is officially declared that Rooney is leaving Old trafford despite his admiration for de striker. Up Chelsea.
