Arsenal ‘Likely’ To Meet £40m Suarez ‘Release Clause’ As Agent Pushes For Move

By on July 17, 2013

With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, the latest on Luis Suarez’s protracted exit from Liverpool.

Luis Suarez Liverpool

Arsenal are expected to table a new and improved £40 million offer for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez over the coming days as the terms of the players contract are set to be tested, according to the Telegraph.

The report claims Arsenal’s original £30m offer – which was rejected last week – included several add ons that would see the figure rise to £35m based on appearances and Suarez’s success at the Emirates.

The Gunners are expected to table a fresh bid this week and the Telegraph suggests that Arsene Wenger is now ‘likely’ to sanction a £40m offer given the fact the original bid would have hit the £35m mark. What a £40m bid would mean remains unclear, though. Liverpool insist they will be under no obligation to sell if that figure is met, as they believe it simply means they have to inform the striker of the approach.

However, the Daily Mail claim that Suarez’s agent has been urging Arsenal – any other interested party – to come forward with a £40m offer as they believe such a bid would effectively trigger a release clause in the players contract and he would therefore be in control of his Anfield exit.

The Uruguayan is expected to link up with the rest of the Liverpool squad in Melbourne next Monday and should Arsenal submit a £40m over the coming days, things could get messy as the exact details of the 26-year-old’s contract will finally be tested.

There is the concern that given the fact Suarez is banned for the opening six games of the season, clubs are in no hurry to resolve his future, so this transfer saga could be one that goes right up until deadline day.

Liverpool’s managing director [Ian Ayre] confirmed yesterday that they truly rejected an offer from arsenal because Suarez havn’t told them that he desires to leave, so there is every chance that Arsene Wenger will get atleast one top class player this summer. Arsenal won’t sign two strikers. We already have Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo whom he promised average playing time before the young Lad decided to join. We will surely sign a centre_back, but do expect a very young and inexperienced one because we already have Per, Kosh and the verminator. Another Goalkeeper is totally out of the question. A Defensive midfielder might also be a realistic target.

It’s obvious that Suarez ill end up at Madrid, so why not pay Madrid the money they want for Higuain, then we not only get a better player than Suarez, e get a player who will fit in at this club and also weaken Spuds as Madrid will then sign Bale.
    GET IT DONE
Higuain is a far better fit for Arsenal than Suarez

RM want something like 27-30m, I think that is too high for someone who’s not even a first choice at RM. I cannot see us buying Suarez either.

Ian, you seem to know a lot about transfers and who will buy who, and who will sell who. But let me tell you something that you don’t know, neither Suarez or Higuain want to come to Arsenal as both players question the club ability to make the top 4 next season, leave a trophy alone. As much as you don’t want to admit it Arsenal are club going downhill and Spurs are the one going up. And finally Ian, stop dreaming about Bale going to Madrid. He is a clever guy and of course will opt to stay with Tottenham. All Arsenal can offer to all of your prime targets is maybe a few games CL football next season and maybe 6-7 place in the league and that’s it. That’s the reason why no player is even thing of coming to Arsenal

There isn’t a release clause, its like the article says, he can speak to clubs who offer over 40m but the club don’t have to accept it.
