Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Arsenal are linked with M’Baye Niang while Tottenham could miss out on Alen Halilovic.

Arsenal target Niang

First up and the Express are reporting that Arsenal are preparing to table a £6m bid for AC Milan striker M’Baye Niang in January.

The report claims that the Gunners took the powerful frontman on trial back in 2012 before he eventually sealed a move to the San Siro from French outfit Caen.

The France under-21’s striker enjoyed a promising start to life in Serie A but has dropped behind the likes of Robinho, Mario Balotelli and Stephan El Sharaaway in the pecking order this season leading to speculation he could look for a move.

It appears Arsene Wenger has remained a fan of the 18-year-old and the newspaper suggests the Arsenal boss is lining up a £6m offer as he looks to strengthen his strike-force this winter to aid the north Londoners title push.

With only Olivier Giroud to choose from up front, it’s easy to see why Wenger would be on the look-out for another striker in January and Niang could be open to the move in order to gain more first team opportunities.

Spurs to miss out on Halilovic

Next up and the Express are also reporting that Tottenham are set to miss out on long-term target Alen Halilovic with CSKA Moscow ready to bring him in as a replacement for the departing Keisuke Honda.

The Japanese star is set to join AC Milan in January and the newspaper claims that CSKA have identified Halilovic as the man to fill the void and are stepping up their interest ahead of a formal January move after extensively scouting the highly-rated youngster.

One stumbling block over any potential deal could be Dinamo Zagreb’s valuation with the newspaper claiming they are demanding £13m for the 17-year-old, and the attacker’s agent Shay Chen feels it’s excessive.

“Dinamo Zagreb wants too much money for Alen.

“We need to see what happens in the winter [transfer window].

“If they reduce their financial demands then we can make progress in the negotiations.

“We have offers from many clubs but everything will depend on Dinamo Zagreb’s position.” Chen is quoted as saying by the Express.

Spurs have been linked with the Croatian starlet for some time and the Express suggests a move last January fell through because the north Londoners failed to guarantee him regular first team football – something that’s understood to be important to the player and could sway in CSKA’s favour.
