[Video Goals] Everton 3-0 Arsenal: Terrific Toffes Close On Top Four

By on April 6, 2014

Everton gave their hopes of finishing in the top four a huge boost after beating Arsenal 3-0 at Goodison Park this afternoon thanks to goals from Steven Naismith, Romelu Lukaku and an own goal from Mikel Arteta.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Naismith stroked home after Szczesny had blocked a goal-bound effort from Lukaku and the on-loan Chelsea striker then doubled Everton’s advantage with a fierce strike from the edge of the area.

The Gunners looked a little brighter at the start of the second half but any hopes of getting back in the game were extinguished when Arteta scored an own goal against his former side to make it 3-0.

The result sees Everton close to within just a single point of fourth-placed Arsenal but crucially Roberto Martinez’s men have a game in hand. Watch the goals from the game here:

Fans can see the number of goals Arsenal scored against other top teams and that will indicate the team is in a despeate situaion. They would have lost if they are still playing lifeless footbal against the last three teams in the EPL.
