Attacker ‘Honoured’ By Arsenal’s Interest As Gunners Line-Up €21m Bid

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent has admitted it’s an honour to be on Arsene Wenger’s wish-list amid reports Arsenal are lining up a €21m bid for the Napoli attacker.

As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news of Arsenal’s interest in Lorenzo Insigne.

The agent of Lorenzo Insigne has admitted it’s an honour to be on Arsene Wenger’s summer ‘wish-list’ amid rumours Arsenal are lining up a €21m bid for the Napoli attacker.

Reports yesterday claimed that Arsene Wenger has added Insigne to his list of targets after watching him on several occasions last season and the boss has now instructed his scouts to keep a close eye on him during this summers World Cup.

The 23-year-old is expected to be a key member of the Italy squad and could line-up against England in their Group D opener next Saturday, so Wenger will get an opportunity to see how he fares against Premier League opposition.

The Metro suggest that should the forward impress in Brazil, we’ll test Napoli’s resolve with a €21m (£17m) bid and Wenger is understood to be confident that figure will be enough to land the exciting attacker as the Serie A club are believed to be ready to cash in to raise funds to strengthen other areas of their squad.

Whether that turns out to be the case remains to be seen, but the players agent Antonio Ottaiano has responded to the speculation by admitting it’s an honour to be linked with a club like Arsenal.

However, contrary to the Metro’s report, Ottaiano claims any deal may be difficult as he’s considered a key player for Napoli but urged us to contact the Italians if we want to try and land his client.

“We take into account the praising reports that Wenger has given about the player.

“We are honoured that a club like Arsenal could have Lorenzo on their wish list.

“However, from here to take it to the next level, that is a possible transfer, there is a huge mountain in between named Napoli.

“The club consider him without a shadow of a doubt as one of their cardinal players for their ambitious project.

“Hence, as of today, I don’t see that there can be any further developments unless Arsenal speak to Napoli directly and Napoli change their view on Lorenzo’s role here.” Source: Express

Insigne is a hugely talented player and I think he’d be a useful addition to the squad this summer. He’s mainly used on the wing by Napoli, and we could certainly do with more depth in the wide areas, but he’s also capable of playing through the middle so he’d provide Arsene with plenty of options if we could bring him to north London.

The Italian international also has bags of pace, and that is something we badly need to add to the squad, so hopefully we could get a deal done with Napoli if Arsene decides to formalise his interest this summer.
