Liverpool are set to table a €23m bid for Paris Saint-Germain attacker and long-term Chelsea target Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to reports.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is on the look-out for another forward after pulling out of a deal to sign Loic Remy over the weekend and it seems his search has led him across the channel to Paris.

The Metro are citing reports coming from Spanish source Marca that claim the Merseysiders have identified Lavezzi as a potential new addition and are plotting a €23m (£18m) bid for the powerful 29-year-old attacker.

And it appears Liverpool could be in with a chance of landing the Argentinean international as the newspaper suggests that PSG are willing to cash in on Lavezzi to help fund their bid for Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria.

The Ligue 1 champions are in danger of falling foul of FIFA’s Financial Fair Play guidelines for the second year running if they don’t offload players to balance the books ahead of a proposed £63m deal for Di Maria.

Lavezzi has also been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in recent months with Jose Mourinho believed to be a huge admirer of the player, but it remains to be seen whether the Portuguese coach will make his interest formal after already signing Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa this summer.

The South American scored nine goals to help PSG land the French title last season and as he’s able to play anywhere across the front three positions, he’d offer Brendan Rodgers plenty of options in attack if he was to make the move to Anfield.

It’s unclear whether the supposed €23m bid will be enough to persuade PSG to cash-in, but it will surely be a tempting offer when you consider the players age and the fact they are keen to sell in order to make room for Di Maria, so Liverpool could have a good chance of landing the versatile attacker if they go ahead with their proposed move.
