Arsenal Set To Make Improved Offer In Excess Of €25m For Man Utd Target
Arsenal are ready to make an improved offer to sign Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan after Borussia Dortmund rejected their initial €25m offer in January
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are ready to make a move for Ilkay Gundogan….
Arsenal are ready to make an improved offer to sign Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan after Borussia Dortmund rejected their initial €25m offer back in January, according to the Telegraph.
Gundogan’s future at the Westfalonstadion is in doubt as he’s about to enter the final year of his contract in June and he’s already turned down Dortmund’s last two offers of an extension.
The uncertainty has led to speculation suggesting that the 24-year-old could be heading to the Premier League with Arsenal and Manchester United strongly linked with a move for the midfielder in recent months.
It seems the Gunners are ready to renew their interest with the Telegraph reporting that Arsene Wenger is set to make an improved offer for Gundogan’s services after Dortmund rejected their initial €25m (£18.4m) bid in January.
The Bundesliga club are keen to keep hold of the German international but unless he signs fresh terms over the next few weeks, they may be forced to cash-in this summer or risk losing him for nothing in 2016, so an offer in excess of €25m from Arsenal is sure to be tempting.
Wenger is expected to be in the market for another central midfielder this summer with the future’s of Abou Diaby, Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta all in serious doubt, and Gundogan would be a top class addition at the Emirates.
However, if Dortmund do decide to sell then I’m sure the North Londoners will face some serious competition, not least from Man Utd with Louis van Gaal also on the look-out for midfield reinforcements this summer.

I’m sure both clubs will be keeping a close eye on how contract negotiations progress over the coming weeks and the longer they stall, the more chance that we’ll see Gundogan heading for England at the end of the season.
