Liverpool Line-Up £7.5m Loan Deal For Arsenal Target Petr Cech

As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Liverpool are ready to move for Chelsea’s Petr Cech….
Liverpool are lining-up a surprise loan deal for Arsenal target Petr Cech as the goalkeeper gets set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, according to reports.
Cech has been at Stamford Bridge for almost 11 years after joining the club in 2004 and has been a regular fixture in the starting eleven to help the Blues win a whole host of top honours including three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League.
However, the 32-year-old has lost his No.1 status this season to Thibaut Courtois and has started just four league games so far with the majority of his game-time coming in the cup competitions.
The Czech international looks set for a move this summer after recently confirming that he’s not prepared to spend another season as Courtois’ understudy.
“I’m used to playing 50 or 60 games a season, not 15 or 20. That’s a big difference.
“It looks like it works well with me and Thibaut as a duo. But that can work for one season only. I don’t want another one like this.
“It is no secret that I want to play more. The situation is the same, it hasn’t changed. But at the end of the season it will be solved.” Cech is quoted as saying by the Mirror
It’s understandable that a player of Cech’s quality wants to be playing regularly and the uncertainty over his future has led to speculation linking Cech with both Arsenal and Liverpool in recent months.
However, it looks like the Merseysiders are hoping to steal a march on the Gunners with the Mirror reporting this morning that Brendan Rodgers is lining-up a surprise loan move for the experienced goalkeeper.
The newspaper suggests that Liverpool are ready to give Chelsea a £1m loan fee and pay all of the players £125,000-a-week wages – which equates to £6.5m per season – so the entire deal would be worth £7.5m.
Until now, it had been assumed that Cech would leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis but a loan deal could appeal to the league leaders. Jose Mourinho is keen not to lose the long-serving stopper so perhaps they would be open to a one-year loan with a view to assessing things in the summer of 2016.
It remains to be seen whether Cech would be keen on a short-term deal, or whether he’d prefer to start afresh at a new club permanently, but I’m sure Arsenal will also have something to say about it all.

Arsene Wenger is expected to be in the market for another keeper this summer with Wojceich Szczesny out-of-favour and Cech would be an excellent addition at the Emirates if they could persuade Chelsea to do business.
The Blues are tipped to allow Cech to choose his next club and with the player settled in England, a move to a rival seems a real possibility, so it’s going to be interesting to see how this all plays out over the coming weeks.
