Agent Confirms €50m Ace Wants Move Amid Reports Man Utd Have Agreed Terms
The agent of Nicolas Otamendi has confirmed the Argentinean defender wants to leave Valencia this summer amid rumours Man Utd have agreed personal terms
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Nicolas Otamendi’s agent confirms he wants to leave Valencia this summer….
The agent of Nicolas Otamendi has confirmed the Argentinean defender wants to leave Valencia this summer amid rumours Manchester United have agreed personal terms, according to reports today.
United boss Louis van Gaal is expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer as he looks to build a title-winning squad next season and a central defender is understood to be a main priority for the Dutchman.
Several names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months but speculation intensified last week that van Gaal has now set his sights on Otamendi after Mats Hummels decided to remain at Borussia Dortmund.
United have now been handed a major boost as the centre-backs agent Eugenio Lopez has confirmed the player wants to leave Valencia this summer and revealed talks are well underway with interested parties.
Lopez is quoted by the Express as telling radio station Cadena SER Valencia:
“Nicolas is comfortable with Valencia and the fans but will have an option to improve his career.
“Jorge Mendes already knows that Nico wants to leave Valencia. Nico will do everything possible to get it, he will do everything possible to leave.
“If there’s an offer from a club we consider a top club, and it benefits his family, Nico wants to go. There are many discussions with several clubs who want to sign Otamendi.”
These comments come shortly after reports emerged from Spain claiming that United have already agreed personal terms with Otamendi that will see him earn €5m-per-season at Old Trafford.
Who knows how much truth there is behind those reports but judging by Lopez’s claims, Otamendi is desperate to leave Valencia this summer so United have a realistic chance of signing him if van Gaal decides he’s the defender he wants this summer.
However, any potential deal is going to set United back a huge sum as the Argentinean international has a €50m (£36m) buy-out clause in his contract and Valencia are expected to demand the full value of that figure to sell.
The Spaniard’s are no longer under any pressure to cash-in on their best players as they are now backed by Billionaire owner Peter Lim, so United will have to dig deep if they want to sign Otamendi this summer.
