Man Utd Set To Open Talks Over €30m Deal For 28-Goal Liverpool Target

Manchester United have emerged as favourites to sign Carlos Bacca this summer and are set to open talks with Sevilla about a €30m deal, according to reports.

Bacca has just finished-off another excellent season with his 28 goals and 9 assists helping Sevilla secure a fifth-placed finish in the La Liga table, while he also bagged a brace in last night’s thrilling 3-2 Europa League final victory over Dnipro to ensure Unai Emery’s men retained the trophy.

The Colombian international’s impressive form in front of goal has attracted interest from the Premier League with Liverpool among those to be strongly linked with a move for the striker in recent months.

Brendan Rodgers is on the look-out for reinforcements in attack after a hugely disappointing campaign that saw the Merseysiders miss out on Champions League qualification and Bacca would certainly bring an added goal threat if he was to make the move to Anfield.

However, it looks as though Liverpool will now face stiff competition for his signature as the Metro are citing reports coming out of Spain which claim Manchester United have now emerged as favourites to sign the striker this summer.

The newspaper suggests that United are set to open formal talks with Sevilla over a potential €30m (£21m) deal with the La Liga side understood to be ready to cash-in on one of their key assets. There could also be interest from Italian giants AC Milan and Roma, but the report states that it’s United who are most likely to complete a deal.

We’ll have to wait and see how much truth there is behind this report but Louis van Gaal is in the market for another striker after rejecting the chance to sign Radamel Falcao on a permanent basis and Bacca could be the lethal marksman United have been missing.

I’m sure Liverpool will do all they can to try and lure him to Anfield but United have more financial muscle and can offer Champions League football, so you’d have to say they are the current front-runners to wrap up a deal for the 28-year-old this summer.
