Manchester United have stolen a march on Liverpool after making a transfer offer to Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca ahead of a potential summer move, according to reports.
Bacca has just come off the back of another excellent season with his 28 goals helping Sevilla to a fifth place finish in the La Liga table and his brace saw Unai Emery’s men retain the Europa League with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Dnipro last week.
The strikers impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with Liverpool strongly linked with a move for the Colombian international in recent months while reports last week suggested that Manchester United had also joined the race for his signature.
However, it looks like United have now moved into pole position as the Metro are citing reports coming out of Spain which claim that the Red Devils have now made an offer to Bacca ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.
The report doesn’t provide any concrete details on the precise nature of the ‘offer’, so you may want to take it with a pinch of salt, but they do state that Louis van Gaal is a big fan of the player and is pushing the club to wrap-up a deal over the coming weeks.

As with any transfer story, it’s difficult to know how much truth there is behind it but United are on the look out for another striker after rejecting the chance to sign Radamel Falcao on a permanent basis and Bacca would be an excellent addition at Old Trafford.
If this report is accurate, then it looks as though United have a serious interest in signing the Colombian but I wouldn’t discount Liverpool from the race just yet.
Brendan Rodger’s is also in need of a goal-scorer as Daniel Sturridge just can’t seen to stay fit and Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have been less than useless since making the move to Anfield, so a player with Bacca’s record in front of goal would be warmly welcomed on Merseyside.
