Man Utd To Make Formal £30m Bid For Arsenal’s No.1 Target Following Agent Talks
Manchester United are ready to formalise their interest in top Arsenal target Karim Benzema by testing Real Madrid’s resolve with a £30m offer for the striker
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are set to step-up their interest in Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema….
Manchester United are ready to formalise their interest in top Arsenal target Karim Benzema by testing Real Madrid’s resolve with a £30m offer for the French striker, according to reports.
Despite enjoying another productive season at the Bernabeu that saw him score 22 goals in 46 games, Benzema’s future is in some doubt following the arrival of Rafa Benitez as manager earlier this month.
The Spanish coach is ready to hand Cristiano Ronaldo a central striking role in his new-look team next season with Gareth Bale restored to his more natural left-wing position which would see Benzema left out in the cold.
While Madrid would prefer to keep hold of the French international as a squad player, reports in Spain claim they are ready to cash-in on the striker to help fund a move for United goalkeeper David De Gea.
The news of Benzema’s availability has alerted clubs in the Premier League with Arsenal and Manchester United both believed to be keen on luring the 27-year-old to England this summer.
Speculation early last week suggested the Gunners were ready to make their move after Arsene Wenger made Benzema his No.1 transfer target while further reports claimed that United chiefs held talks with the strikers agent, Karim Djaziri, in the Savoy hotel in Manchester on Wednesday to discuss a potential switch to Old Trafford.
It appears those talks went well as the Daily Mail are now reporting today that United are set to formalise their interest with a £30m bid. I highly doubt that will be enough to persuade Real Madrid to sell but it will be the first step in United trying to pull off what would be a major coup.
van Gaal is in the market for another striker after rejecting the chance to sign Radamel Falcao on a permanent basis and Benzema would be an excellent addition as he’s one of the best all-round front-men in the game.

As it stands, it appears United have stolen a march on Arsenal in the race for his signature but I wouldn’t discount the North Londoners just yet as Wenger is a big fan of his compatriot and won’t give up without a fight.
We’ll have to see how things develop and while I’d personally be surprised if Madrid did end up selling Benzema this summer, I’d love to see him plying his trade in the Premier League next season so hopefully Arsenal or United can pull off a deal.
