Man Utd Aim To Trump Chelsea With €41m Bid For Brazilian Attacker

As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are ready to move for Felipe Anderson….
Manchester United are hoping to beat Chelsea to the signing of Felipe Anderson by tabling a €41m bid for the Brazilian attacker, according to reports.
Anderson has just come off the back of an excellent campaign with Lazio that saw him score 11 goals and provide a further 10 assists in 37 appearances to help Stefano Pioli’s men secure Champions League qualification with a third-placed finish in Serie A.
The Brazilian Under-21 international’s impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with Manchester United strongly linked with a move for the attacking midfielder in recent weeks, while reports earlier this month claimed that Chelsea had also declared their interest in the 22-year-old.
However, it seems United are now ready to steal a march on the Blues as the Telegraph are carrying a report today that suggests Louis van Gaal is ready to test Lazio’s resolve with a €41m (30m) offer.
Anderson only recently signed a new five-year deal so I’m sure the Italian outfit will do all they can to hang on to the South American, but it remains to be seen whether United’s offer will prove too good to turn down.
If Lazio do decide to cash-in this summer then it will be interesting to see if Chelsea step-up their interest and go head-to-head with United over his signature. The Blues won a league and cup double last season but Jose Mourinho is still expected to further strengthen his squad and Anderson would be an exciting addition.
But United could still have the edge as there have been rumours linking Robin van Persie with a move to Rome so van Gaal may use his compatriot as bait to secure the signature of Anderson ahead of Chelsea.
If he was to complete a move to Old Trafford, the youngster would become United’s second major signing of the summer after Memphis Depay wrapped-up his move from PSV Eindhoven last week.

Anderson has predominantly been played as a left-sided attacker at Lazio but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the front three positions, so he’d give van Gaal plenty of options in attack.
