Player Keen On Move As Arsenal Eye Big-Money Bid For World Class Man Utd Target
Arsenal are set to table a £21.3m bid for Manchester United Arturo Vidal with the Juventus midfielder believed to be keen on making the move to North London
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are linked with Artuo Vidal…
Arsenal are set to table a £21.3m bid for long-term Manchester United Arturo Vidal with the Juventus midfielder believed to be keen on making the move to North London, according to the Express.
Vidal has just come off the back of another excellent campaign in Italy that saw him lead Juventus to a league and cup double while they narrowly missed out on the treble after losing to Barcelona in the final of the Champions League.
Despite his success in Turin, the 27-year-old has constantly been linked with a move to the Premier League with the Express suggesting that Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs keen on luring him to England.
However, it seems the Gunners are now ready to steal a march on their rivals as the newspaper claims that Arsene Wenger is set to test Juve’s resolve with a formal £21.3m [€30m] offer.
We’ll have to wait and see how the Serie A champions respond if such a bid is made but I’d personally be surprised if they agreed to let the midfielder go for that amount as Vidal is a world class talent who’s still an integral part of Juve’s starting eleven.
The midfielder is currently away on international duty with Chile at the Copa America and it seems Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez has been selling the idea of playing for the Gunners as the Express claim that Vidal now wants to move to North London and join his compatriot at the Emirates.
These reports come after South American journalist Hernan Feler caused a stir on Twitter last month after claiming that Vidal had already agreed terms to join Arsenal after the Copa America.
Feler tweeted:
“After the Copa America in Chile, it will be made official the arrival of Arturo Vidal to Arsenal.
“Everything is closed. Alexis [Sanchez] will partner him.”
Feler first came to my attention last summer when he was one of the first journalist to break news of Alexis Sanchez’s move to North London, so I’m sure Arsenal fans will be praying his information is correct this time around too.
Obviously we’ll have to wait and see how this all develops but I’d be surprised if Man Utd allowed Vidal to join Arsenal without a fight as he’d be just the type of world class addition that Louis van Gaal needs to make United title challengers again.

However, if Sanchez has managed to persuade his international colleague to join him at the Emirates, I suppose there isn’t a lot the Red Devils can do about it.
Vidal would be a sensational coup for Arsenal if they could get a deal agreed but it would be interesting to see where the central midfielder fitted in to Wenger’s plans, as the Gunners already have the likes of Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta on their books.
