Arsenal Agree Personal Terms With Man Utd Target Ahead Of Proposed £21m Move
Arsenal are closing in on the sensational signing of Manchester United target Arturo Vidal after agreeing personal terms with the Juventus midfielder
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are linked with Arturo Vidal….
Arsenal are closing in on the sensational signing of Manchester United target Arturo Vidal after agreeing personal terms with the Juventus midfielder, according to the Express.
Vidal has just finished-off another impressive campaign in Italy that saw him help Juve land a domestic double and narrowly miss out on the treble after losing to Barcelona in the Champions League final.
The Chilean international has constantly been tipped for a move to the Premier League and this summer is no different with reports suggesting that Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs keen on luring him to England.
However, it appears the Gunners have are now closing in on a deal with Express citing reports coming from Chilean newspaper La Stampa which claim that Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Vidal.
The newspaper states that a £21m (€30m) deal has already been struck with Juventus but the move won’t be officially announced until after the completion of the Copa America – with Chile set to face Peru in the semi-finals tomorrow night.
It’s difficult to know how much truth there is behind these reports but rumours linking Vidal to Arsenal have been gathering pace in recent weeks and if these latest rumours are to be believed, then the 28-year-old is heading to the Emirates.
The Express/La Stampa report comes shortly after a South American journalist called Hernan Feler caused a stir on Twitter after claiming that Vidal was set to join his compatriot Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal.
Feler tweeted last month:
“After the Copa America in Chile, it will be made official the arrival of Arturo Vidal to Arsenal.
“Everything is closed. Alexis [Sanchez] will partner him.”
Feler made a name for himself on the social networking site after being one of the first to break news of Alexis Sanchez and Angel Di Maria’s moves to England last summer, so I’m sure Arsenal fans will be praying his information is spot on again this time around.
Arsene Wenger is likely to bring in another central midfielder as Mikel Arteta is coming towards the end of his career and Vidal would be an excellent addition. Although he’s not specifically a holding midfielder, the Chilean has the attributes needed if Wenger wanted him to play in a defensive role but he’s more of a box-to-box type at Juventus.
These Vidal-to-Arsenal rumours also come at a time when the Daily Mail are reporting that Wenger has withdrawn his interest in long-term target Morgan Schneiderlin with the Frenchman now seemingly heading to United, so this would add further weight to the idea that Arsenal have an alternative lined-up.

Could that man be Vidal? We’ll have to wait and see but I think he’d be a huge success at the Emirates and together with the imminent signing of Petr Cech, Wenger may finally have a squad capable of winning the title for the first time in over a decade.
