Man Utd & Chelsea In Talks With Attacker’s Agent Over £29m Move
Manchester United and Chelsea are both in talks with the agent of Arda Turan discussing a potential £29m move from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to AS.
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Chelsea and Man Utd are linked with Arda Turan….
Manchester United and Chelsea are both in talks with the agent of Arda Turan discussing a potential £29m move from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to AS.
Turan made his name at Galatasaray before making a big-money move to Atletico Madrid in 2011 and he’s continue to develop into one of the best attackers in Europe during his four years in Spain.
The Turkish international has been one of Diego Simeone’s key men in recent years and played an important role in helping them win the La Liga title and reach the final of the Champions League in 2013/14.
However, the 28-year-old’s future at the Vicente Calderon is in serious doubt and speculation over a potential move to England intensified when his agent told the press last week that Turan wants to leave Atletico and head for the Premier League this summer.
“[Arda] intends to leave Spain this summer,” Ahmet Bulut is quoted as saying by ESPN
“His wish is to leave to play in the Premier League, at this moment that is the path he would like to take to further his career. His exit from Atletico is not something easy, as he has a release clause of €41 million. There are conversations under way with three teams, at the moment I cannot say the names, but they are the best teams in England and European football.”
“It’s true, Milan and PSG are two of the six teams which have shown an interest in him, but the Italian team are not one of his options, as they are not playing in the Champions League. PSG are a possibility, but Arda always wanted to test himself in England.”
Bulut refused to name the interested parties involved but Spanish outlet AS claim that Manchester United and Chelsea are two of the three English teams who are in negotiations with the players agent.
The newspaper suggests that Turan and his representatives held talks with Atletico officials last week and made it clear he wants a change of scenery with the Premier League the players preferred destination, so it appears United and Chelsea are serious contenders for his signature this summer.
Turan himself took to Twitter over the weekend to confirm that his agent is in talks with 3-4 clubs:
The transfer rumors are not entirely correct. My agent is currently in touch with 3-4 clubs. I will update you all if a deal is made.

Louis van Gaal is likely to be busy again in the transfer window and a player of Turan’s quality is exactly what he needs to bring in to Old Trafford in order to turn United back into genuine title challengers again.
However, Chelsea will prove to be stiff competition and with the future’s of Mohamed Salah and Juan Cuadrado is doubt, it appears Jose Mourinho may have identified Turan as a possible replacement.

As the player’s agent confirmed, he has a €41m buy out clause – which equates to roughly £29m – and AS claim that Atletico will demand close to that figure in order to sell the attacker, so United and Chelsea will have to dig deep if they want to sign the Turk this summer.
It’s going to be interesting to see how this all plays out but Turan would be an excellent signing for either club. He’s predominantly played as a right-winger in Spain but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions so would offer plenty of options in final third.
