Man Utd: Player Flying In To Undergo Medical On Friday Ahead Of £13m Move
Man Ud are closing in on the signing of Matteo Darmian with the defender due to fly in to undergo his medical on Friday ahead of a £13m move from Torino
With the summer transfer window finally open for business, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd close in on Matteo Darmian….
Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Matteo Darmian with the Italian defender due to fly in to undergo his medical on Friday ahead of a £13m move from Torino, according to Sky Sports News.
Louis van Gaal has been tipped to bring in a new right-back all summer and Darmian has emerged as one of his key target in recent weeks with Gianluca Di Marzio claiming yesterday that a deal had finally been agreed between the two clubs.
The Italian journalist suggests that Darmian has agreed terms over a four-year contract worth around £1.4m net per season after United agreed to pay a package of around £13m to Torino.
It appears the move is about to edge even closer to completion as Sky Sports News are citing reports coming from Sky Italia which claim that the 25-year-old is set to fly-in to Manchester to undergo his medical on Friday.
The news comes shortly after Torino head coach Giampiero Ventura confirmed the move and says Darmian has been given the opportunity to fulfill his dream of playing for a big club in the Champions League.
“Matteo Darmian will play for Manchester United. It’s a dream for him.
“It’s true, Darmian will play in the Champions League with Manchester United.
“Matteo deserves a top team and always dreamed of playing in the Champions League, so now that dream will be realised.
“We worked with Darmian for many years and it’s only right he should be given the chance to make his Champions League dream come true.” Ventura is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
As long as everything goes to plan tomorrow, is seems United are on the verge of wrapping up their second major signing of the summer with Darmian set to follow Memphis Depay in heading for Old Trafford.
The defender has just come off the back of another impressive season with Torino and his excellent form also saw him named as the Italian national team’s best player of 2014.
Darmian is an attacking full-back who’s known to have a great engine and while he’s predominantly a right-back, he’s also capable of playing as a wing-back or right midfielder so I’m sure his versatility appealed to van Gaal.

We’ll have to wait for further developments over the next 24 hours but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Darmian deal was wrapped-up in time for him to head off on United pre-season tour early next week.
