Transfer News: Arsenal Submit £15m Offer | Chelsea Attacker Set For Exit
Here’s some of the latest transfer news including Arsenal tabling a £15m offer for a defender while a Chelsea attacker looks set to leave the club.
With the summer transfer window finally open for business, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are linked with Daniele Rugani and Loic Remy looks set to leave Chelsea….
Arsenal bid for Rugani
First up and talkSPORT are citing reports coming out of Italy that claim Arsenal have tabled a £15m bid for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani but have been told the youngster is not for sale.
Arsene Wenger has been linked with a number of centre-backs in recent weeks but it appears the Frenchman has decided to push ahead with a formal swoop for Rugani.
talkSPORT report that the Gunners have submitted a £15m bid but were swiftly told by Juventus that they had no interest in selling the 20-year-old this summer.
Rugani made a permanent move to Juve in the summer of 2013 but before making a single appearance for his new club, he was immediately sent back on loan to Empoli where he began his career as a youth player.
The youngster has impressed over the past 24 months and is now a regular in the Italian U21 set-up but despite the fact he’ll struggle for first team football next season, it looks like Juve are keen to keep hold of him.
We’ll have to wait and see if Wenger tests the Italian champions with an improved offer or decides to move on to other targets, but I’d personally be surprised if Arsenal spend big on another central defender this summer as they only brought in Gabriel in January, so I don’t see it as an area that needs immediate attention.
Remy linked with move
Next up and the Daily Star are reporting that Chelsea forward Loic Remy is close to leaving Stamford Bridge to be reunited with Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace.
Remy only moved to Chelsea from Newcastle last summer but has struggled to hold down a regular place in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven and he’s set to fall even further down the pecking order following the arrival of Radamel Falcao.
The Daily Star claim that the French international isn’t keen on another season as third choice and wants to link-up with his former boss Pardew at Selhurst Park.
The two men worked together at Newcastle two years ago when Remy impressed with 14 goals in 26 games before making the move to QPR.
Palace have already shown their ambition in the transfer market with the recent capture of Yohan Cabaye and it would be another coup if they could land Remy this summer too.
I think Remy would be an excellent signing for Palace but it remains to be seen whether they’ll be able to strike a deal with Chelsea. If the Premier League champions agreed to let the Frenchman leave then Mourinho would need to find a replacement and that won’t be an easy task with just a few weeks left until the new season starts.
