With the summer transfer window in full swing, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal complete the signing of Donyell Malen….
Highly-rated Dutch youngster Donyell Malen has confirmed on Instagram that he’s completed his move to Arsenal from Ajax.
Reports emerged earlier this week that we were closing in on a deal for the talented 16-year-old with the Express claiming that Malen had snubbed a contract offer from Ajax in favour of moving to North London.
The newspaper suggests that we’ve been scouting the youngster for some time and have now beaten off competition from the likes of Barcelona for his signature.
Malen confirmed the move after uploading a photo of him signing his contract with agent Mino Raiola in the Arsenal offices along with head of youth development Andries Jonker.
Jonker came to the club last summer to help reinvigorate our flagging youth sides and he’s currently overseeing a huge shake-up with Malen the latest youth prospect to be brought to the Emirates this summer.
The youngster has since deleted the photo and his Instagram account but not before the image was taken and it’s been doing the rounds on social media ever since.
However, Ajax have also announced the deal on their official website, saying that they are extremely disappointed to lose such a promising young talent and confirmed that Malen will move to Arsenal with immediate effect.
The teenager will join us on an initial scholarship deal before signing a professional contract when he turns 17 in January, and he’s expected to play with the U18’s during this coming campaign.

The talented attacker is predominantly a striker but he can also play out on the wing, but I’m sure Arsene Wenger will take a close look at his capabilities before deciding on his final position.
