Adidas Pushing For Deal As Man Utd Plot World Record Move For La Liga Attacker
Manchester United are refusing to give up on Gareth Bale and are plotting a world record move for the Real Madrid attacker before the transfer window closes
With the summer transfer window in full swing, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Manchester United are linked with Gareth Bale…
Manchester United are refusing to give up on Gareth Bale and are plotting a world record move for the Real Madrid attacker before the transfer window closes this summer, according to the Express.
Louis van Gaal has already been extremely busy in the market this summer with Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian and Sergio Romero all making the move to Old Trafford.
However, with Angel Di Maria set for a move to Paris Saint-Germain, the Express claim that the Dutch boss wants to bring in a super-star signing before the window closes and has apparently set his sights on Gareth Bale.
The Welshman has long been linked with a move to United with their interest stretching back to his days at Tottenham but the newspaper says that United are now ready to pay a world record transfer fee to prise him away from the Bernabeu this summer.
The Mirror also reported a similar story last month when they claimed that United were prepared to pay a whopping £95m to sign the Welsh attacker, so it does appear the Red Devils are serious about trying to land Bale over the coming weeks.
The big question is whether Madrid would be prepared to do business but the Express say that United will do their best to persuade them right up until the final days of the window as van Gaal is supposedly convinced Bale is the player who can help them reclaim the Premier League title this season.
Interestingly, the paper also says that new shirt sponsors Adidas are pushing for the deal as they’d love to see Bale – who’s one of their marquee clients – link-up with United after their record 10-year partnership kicked off this month.
It would be fascinating to see how Madrid would respond if United did put a world record fee on the table and I personally think they’d give serious consideration to cashing-in as Bale has endured a mixed time of it in Spain following his move two years ago.
The 26-year-old has chipped in with 39 goals in 90 games and played a key role in helping them win the Champions League, but he’s also been targetted for rough treatment by some sections of the Madrid fanbase for his inconsistent displays.

Madrid could use the £90m+ to go after a player like Marco Reus – who could be bought for half the price – and they’d have plenty left over to strengthen other areas of the squad.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but I honestly think there’s a deal to be done if United are willing to break the transfer record to sign Bale, and he’d be a sensational signing if the Old Trafford giants were able to pull it off.
